Kaylea's First Bath

Kaylea had her first real bath today and she loved it. Jordy normally helps out with bathtime, but I really wanted him to capture it on the video camera instead. Kaylea loved having a bath. This didn't really surprise me because she never minded a sponge bath. She was very alert throughout the entire thing.

Meeting Dr. Lowe

Jordy & I took Kaylea to the doctor today. We finally got to meet Dr. Lowe. She was wonderful. It was obvious that she loved babies. I actually took my camera into the office, but couldn't find it while we were there.

Kaylea is obviously a great eater! She is now up to 7lbs, 8 oz and she is 19 3/4 inches long. She has grown quite a bit in her short time here. Because she has passed up her birth weight, she will not have to go back tot he doctor until she reaches 2 months. This is not going to be a fun visit because Kaylea will be getting shots!!! My poor baby.

First Photo Shoot

Kaylea did not have pictures taken at the hospital. Instead, we had her pictures taken when she was 10 days old. She decided to sleep through the entire thing. However, when we began viewing the proofs she opened her eyes for a few minutes. Here are a few of our favorites.

Kaylea lost her umbilical cord today. It had been looking like it wanted to fall off for a few days, so we were very excited to have it come off today. Looks like Kaylea can start taking a real bath!

Weekend Fun

Stress Fracture

I have been complaining about one swollen foot for about 3 weeks. Everyone, including the doctor, told me that it was normal with pregnancy and not to be concerned. The pain continued, so while I was in the hopsital with Kaylea, I asked to have my right foot X-rayed. The conclusion - I had not broken my foot as I suspected.

I had planned on starting to run on Monday, July 27th. However, with the pain in my right foot, I knew this would be nearly impossible. I decided to make an appointment with a podiatrist. Wednesday I went to the doctor and found out that I have a stress fracture in my right foot. I have to wear a walking cast and I am going to be out of commission for a while. She told me that for two weeks I cannot even ride a bike. Guess these extra 20 pounds are going to have to wait :-)

Visit With Great Grandpa "Papa"

I never had the opportunity to meet any of my great-grandparents, so I think it is cool that Kaylea got to hang out with her great grandpa today.

Papa and Barbara stopped by to see Kaylea and just went on and on about how beautiful she was. Papa had to hold her twice and carry her around the house.

Already a Cards Fan

Check out Baby Kaylea - she's already trying to support UL! She'll be saying, "Go Cards" before you know it.

Getting To Know The Doodle

The Doodle has been getting to know Kaylea. It is so cute. The first few nights that we were home, Kaylea was sleeping in the bassinet next to our bed. When she would make a noise, the Doodle would run over to look in. At one point, Jordy woke up to see me looking over the bassinet and the Doodle next to me looking in. I wasn't able to get a good picture of that, but I did get a picture of the Doodle checking her out in the crib. We were concerned that the Doodle was going to bark at Kaylea a lot. Thankfully, the Doodle has been wonderful. It looks like we are going to be able to keep them both!

Doctor Appointment

Kaylea & I made our first trip to the outside world today. We went to see the doctor. We found out that she is a shrimp! Keep in mind, she also isn't supposed to be here just yet. She weighed 6lbs, 8 ounces and was only 19 inches long. She was in the 5th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for height. The goal is for her to return to her birth weight by the time she is two weeks old. I don't think she is going to have a problem making it.
