Happy 8th Birthday Kaylea

I am not keeping up regular posts in the blog, but I definitely wanted to commemorate my girl's 8th birthday. In usual Kaylea fashion, we celebrated with 3 birthday parties!!! We started off with a skating party in Virginia where we invited all of her school friends. We also had a sleepover after the party.  It was a fantastic time for everyone (maybe not the parents who got less than adequate sleep).  After vacation, we visited our hometown where we shared a birthday party with another friend at SIGS. Kaylea was able to invite some of her friends that she has known for a long time. It's amazing to me that they pick up right where they left off every time we see them. We ended by celebrating with a party with her family. I heard her tell one of her friends that this was one of her best birthdays and she has had a lot of great ones. That makes a mom's heart smile.

Keeping with tradition, here are the answers to her 20 questions. She enjoys doing this more and more each year and wants to compare her answers from years past. I almost had a mom fail and forgot to ask her the questions, but squeezed them in on July 9th.  Happy Birthday sweet girl.

Happy 7th Birthday Kaylea!

I can't believe our baby girl is 7 years old.  I know you always hear that the time passe quickly, but you don't realize how quickly until you live it.  We have celebrated Kaylea's birthday for two weeks straight.  She had three parties in two states.  She had an awesome time.  It was an amazing time for her.  She is a very blessed girl.

  • Kaylea has improved her gymnastics skills this year.  She learned to do her back walkover.  She is taking the summer over but plans to take lessons again when school starts.
  • She finished another season of Daisies and bridged to Brownies for next years.
  • She has become an excellent reader.  She ended the year well above grade level.  She loves to read and learn.  In fact, she is taking a 3 week summer program that focuses on STEM activities.
  • She still loves to play pretend.  Some of her favorite things to play are with her stuffed animals and pincher.
  • She loves God; She love her family; She loves her friends.

Saying Good-Bye is Hard

Kaylea's best friend, Alannah, moved to Florida on Father's Day.  This was very rough on her.  They were both sad. We did get in a lot of time with Alannah before she left.  We spent most of the weekend hanging out with her.  I hope we get to visit her in Orlando.

Happy Early Birthday

We celebrated Kaylea turning 7 with her friends in Virginia.  She had an amazing party.  She had about 12 girls over for 3 hours.  They had dinner, played games, and enjoyed cake and a chocolate fountain.  This is the first year we did games and had winners.  Guess what?  No one cried.  It was awesome.  Kaylea is a blessed little girl.  She is looking forward to celebrating her birthday in Indiana next week.

Last Week of School

Kaylea enjoyed her last week at school.  She said it was mostly playing games.  I had lunch with her and hosted an end of year party for her class.  It was great to see the kids have a great time.  We had a donut eating contest, did a craft, and ate pizza.  It was a great day.

Girl Scout Bridge Ceremony

Kaylea, along with several of her Girl Scout Daisy Troop members, crossed the bridge to become Girl Scout Brownies.  They had a fun year with lots of laughter.  Let's hope Brownies is just as much fun!

Theater - The Enchanted Castle

Nana and Pop came to visit for the weekend.  They came to see Kaylea’s first show.  She was very excited to see them and enjoyed spending time with them.  Kaylea has been working hard the past 12 weeks preparing for her play.  She decided to play Beca from Pitch Perfect.  We were able to watch her perform both Saturday and Sunday.  She did a great job with her lines and seemed to enjoy doing the show.  I think she is looking forward to sleeping in on Saturdays.

The Creek

We went over to the VanDyk’s last weekend to hang out.  While we were there, we discovered the creek in the neighborhood.  This was a great find.  Kaylea is loving the creek and has been back at least twice since.  It looks like we will need some creek gear for the summer.

Mother's Day

This year we celebrated Mother’s Day with dinner out at Uno’s.  After dinner, my mom and I went shopping. She rarely gives me any gift ideas, so it was nice taking her shopping this year.  She picked out a purse and a pair of shoes.  It was a nice day with the family.  I’m thankful that God made me Kaylea’s mom.
