O-R-E-O

We have been experimenting with regular table food with Kaylea for awhile now. It's just recently that she has actually become somewhat interested. For lunch today she ate a lot of Mac & Cheese and peas and she had a special treat. She had half of an Oreo. Judging from the pictures, she may get that sweet tooth from her mama.

I Love My New Toy Box

Kaylea may have too many toys. That's not really possible, is it? Daddy wanted to get her a toy box so they weren't all over the house. As you can see, Kaylea has a lot of fun playing with the toy box.

I Can Walk

Kaylea says, "watch out mom and dad, I'm on the go." I'm not sure what defines walking. If it is taking a step or two unassisted, Kaylea has been walking for sometime. However, I'm calling this her official walk. She can walk several steps (10-12) and remain standing instead of sitting down. We are so excited about her ability to walk, but don't want our sweet baby to grow up!

Playing With Millie

My mom watched Kaylea on Saturday night while we went out to celebrate Amy's 30th Birthday. It's the first time since she went back to work that we have needed her to watch Kaylea for a long period of time. As you can see from the video above, she missed hanging out with her Millie. She was due for a nap, but was so excited to see my mom, that she forgot!

Early Present?

Kaylea loves Mickey Mouse & the hot dog dance. Never in a million years did I think I would know that song. Those who know me, realize that I have a problem waiting until a birthday or holiday to give a gift. Once I find the perfect gift for a person, I'm ready to share it with them. Jordy is always getting mad at me for giving gifts early. This time, he's the culprit. We were at Meijer on Saturday and Kaylea was loving this Mickey Mouse...no sooner than we got home, he had it out of the box and she was playing with it. She loves it. This morning I was in her room and she kept hitting the button over and over again. She laughs hysterically when the hot dog song comes on.

Visitors

Saturday, Kaylea had some visitors. Great Aunt Barbara & Great Grandpa Papa stopped by to hang with K. She was really into Barbara. I never did get a great picture of K & Papa.

Happy Father's Day

Jordy celebrated his first Father's Day as a daddy today - and can you believe, I only captured these three pictures : ( We grilled out this afternoon and ate way too much! Kaylea had a great time visiting with everyone. Kaylea is so blessed to have such a great Daddy in her life. He would do anything for her and when you see them together, it is so easy to see how much they love each other. Kaylea gave Daddy lots of kisses today. Happy Father's Day Jordy!

The bathroom is Kaylea's latest obsession - everything in it from the bath tub to the toilet to the toilet paper. We have to keep the toilet seat down or the door shut. If she is in her room playing and you leave her for 1 minute, she heads to the bathroom. We were watching her Saturday morning and she was having a blast playing with the toilet paper.

Look, Mom!

Pool Time

Below are some pictures of Kaylea in her small pool. We got in the small pool at our house on Wednesday, in preparation for going to Mary's big pool on Thursday. I did not get any pictures at Mary's house, but my girl is a FISH! She was so happy to be in the water. She was all smiles. She stuck her face in a few times, but just laughed. I was afraid when I got her out of the water to eat, she would be mad, but she was fine. We can't wait to go back and play at Mary's.

Bye Millie

For those of you who do not know, my mom has returned to work. I am so excited that she was able to return, but we sure miss having her watch Kaylea. Luckily, we had family members help out the first week of Jordy's summer school. And for the next two weeks, we are so lucky to have Danielle, one of Jordy's former students. She works with kids all of the time. We miss Millie, but she comes over at least every other day, so there is still plenty of bonding time.

Girls Night Out

Jennifer & I went out Friday evening to see Legally Blonde, the musical. We had dinner before the show. The musical certainly wasn't life changing, but we had a great time. Kaylea really liked Jennifer. Jennifer was very nice to us and got up with Kaylea in the morning (she actually slept in until 7:30). It was nice sleeping until we woke up! Thanks, Jennifer! We spent Saturday morning checking out some yard sales. It was a great time.

11th Months

I cannot believe my baby girl is 11 months old. This time last year we were anxious, wondering when we could meet her. Now, she is growing like a weed and into everything. She is such a ham. The other day she was crawling on the floor in the kitchen and I got out the camera to take a picture of her. Check out the pictures above. She loves the camera.

Lots to Say

Kaylea has so much to say these days. Before I had a child and I would hear other kids mumble words and then their parents would interpret, it never made since. Now, I get it! Kaylea has been saying several words - cat (and while she knows Skeeter is a cat, she also thinks dogs are cats), duck (I captured this on video tonight, but she's in the bath, so it's not rated PG), light, mama, and dada. She actually tries to repeat all of the words you say, but some we don't understand.

Standing

It can be very difficult to get a picture of Kaylea standing. It's not because she isn't good at it. She can stand on her own without holding on to anything for a long time. However, now she just wants to walk. She doesn't care if anyone is there to catch her or not. She doesn't care if she falls flat on her face. This is the best picture we could capture.

Water Table Fun

We got Kaylea a water table for her birthday (okay, I know it isn't her birthday yet, but I don't do well with keeping secrets...and it was HOT). Here are some pictures of her enjoying her new toy.

New Car Seat

We decided it was time to get Kaylea a new car seat. Although she looks happy in these pictures below, she had other ideas. She is not too excited about the seat. The first time we put her in it, she screamed the entire way to Louisville. We got stuck in traffic, and I have to tell you. I did not deal well with those big tears. I had to get her out for a few minutes. We'll keep working on it. I'm hoping she will like it better when we get to face her forward in another month.

Quick Update on Kaylea

I don't have any pictures to go with this post yet, but I'm hoping to get some tomorrow. Kaylea is wanting to walk soooo bad. She stands on her own and laughs and claps. She will walk for you. She's gone up to 10 steps before toppling over. She doesn't even mind when she falls on her face. For the last 2 or 3 weeks, she will hold on to something and then turn and try to walk toward you. Now, she doesn't even look to see if you are there - she just goes. Sometimes she makes it to her intended destination and sometimes, she ends up on the floor. The girl wants to go!

Memorial Day Weekend

Jordy and I don't usually have big Memorial Day plans. We usually just enjoy having a 3 day weekend. On Sunday, we had lunch at King Fish (Kaylea slept through the entire thing) and then went to Waterfront Park. Kaylea had a blast. She loved the swing. I thought she would be scared of the water that sprays out of the ground, but she wasn't. She loved it. When we went home, she was worn out. She took a 2 hour nap - that never happens! It was a great day.
