lafayette visit

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed to Lafayette for a visit with friends.  We got there by noon and started with a play date at Chuck E. Cheese.  We met up with several friends.  Kaylea had a blast playing with Will, Owen, and Addi and I got to catch up with some awesome women (and a husband). Jordy and Matt made plans to go see a movie while we hung out.

Kaylea has forever been talking about wanting to see Rose.  She wants to go to her house and for me to drop her off and leave.  I'm honestly not sure what this is about since we've never done that.  Since Rose couldn't meet us at Chuck E. Cheese we stopped by her house to hang out for a little while.  Kaylea played with Rose and I got to chat with her mom and dad (who I used to work with at the Post Office).

After catching up with Rose we didn't have a whole lot of time before Kaylea was going to hang out with Owen and Mommy & Daddy had an adult night out.  We played at the hotel (Kaylea loves using the phone after we unplug it).  We headed over to Owen's and Kaylea got play and stay up late.

Jordy and I went out to dinner with Jen & Matt at Red 7s and then went over to a former co-workers house.  We stayed over there for a couple of hours and then went for a few drinks before heading back to get Kaylea.  She had a blast, but she was exhausted and ready to go back to the hotel and go to sleep, so that's what we did.

We had to get up early and head back home so we could make it to a friend's birthday party!  I think we all had a blast.

waterfront park

We had an exhausting, but fun weekend.  I have so many pictures that I am going to have to break it down into a few posts.  Friday evening we met up with the Niemeier's at Impellizari's pizza for dinner.  When we finished, we headed to Waterfront Park to play at the park and in the water.  The water was cold, but the kids didn't seem to care.  It was great catching up and spending the evening outside.  After working inside all week, I love getting out and the weather was perfect!

Check out the guy below in the park - I think he was practicing to walk across the Grand Canyon (ya have to start somewhere, right?).

struck palooza 2013

We had a busy day Saturday.  After looking at a house, going grocery shopping, and enjoying a nice church service, we headed to a Struck family reunion.  I think we all had a great time.  Kaylea played on the swings, went down the blow up water slide, enjoyed some good food, and even did a little singing for the audience.  Jordy and I both participated in the corn hole tournament.  I managed to make it throug the first round, only to be beat by my father-in-law.  When we got home, Kaylea went to sleep pretty quickly.

backyard fun

Friday night we went out to dinner with the Hamm's.  Jordy and I have been trying to eat healthy leading up to vacation, and we can do that at Outback, so that's where we went (it helped that we each had an $8 coupon, too).  Kaylea had never been to Outback.  She seemed to enjoy it.

After dinner, we went back to the Hamm's house for playtime.  They just had a new playground installed that day.  It was super cool.  Kaylea and Lucas (and maybe mama, too) swung and played until it was almost dark.   Lucas and Kaylea played very well together.  I hope we get invited back ;)

it's almost someone's birthday

We've been party planning around here.  Unlike my normal self, I have turned it over to someone else to deal with.  Living in an apartment, we really don't have the space to have a party here.  It's costing me a fortune, but I'm glad to have no worries.

happy father's day

We had a pretty laid back Father's Day.  Jordy is a wonderful father and I can't imagine our lives without him.  We let Jordy sleep in.  Kaylea and I played.  We sent daddy to the gym and just hung out until Nana & Shannan came over for lunch.

Jordy and I went to look at some houses, looked at property, and picked up Wick's and had dinner with Trina, Mikey, and my Mom.  It was a good day.

princess ballet camp

Friday night Kaylea graduated from Princess Ballet Camp at RDA.  I'm not a dance mom, but I was excited to see her performance.  She didn't disappoint.  It brought tears to my eyes.  They each had a turn on the microphone (those who would actually do it) and Kaylea said, "C is for caring."  The crowd all said, "aw."

She followed along with the dance pretty well.  If you watched her in t-ball, you might think she can't follow instructions, but she was all about this.  I posted the video on facebook, so I'm not going to post it here, but it was adorable.  I guess we will be signing up for dance class in August.

The first picture below is Kaylea just before dance class.  I guess daddy wore her out.

summer fun

Kaylea gets to spend a few days a week at home with daddy in the summer.  This mama is a little jealous, but happy to see them spending so much time together and doing fun things.  Not too many kids, get this much time with daddy.

Friday they headed to Waterfront Park for some playtime in the morning.  They played at the park and played in the water.  Afterward, they came to see me at work and ate lunch in my office.  I think Kaylea loves all of this fun time with Daddy!

laid back

We have a pretty laid back weekend. Friday night, Jordy and I went and look at a house in Wolf Lake. Kaylea didn’t want to go, so she Nana came over to play with her. We were able to grab dinner at the New Albanian. We were not impressed. We also caught a Kona Ice Truck at New Albany High School for the Relay for Life event. We weren’t gone long before heading back home to play with Kaylea.
Kaylea had a big day Saturday. Kaidyn came over to play in the morning. They played dress up. It was funny watching two girls play together (we have a lot of friends with boys). We went to McDonald’s and then headed to the park. Kaylea had a lot of fun. I love this age where my child is so independent, but yet, she still needs me.

We went to church on Saturday. Kaylea did not want to go, but she ended up having a blast and keeps asking me when we get to go back. I thought maybe they just played in the room, but she has been asking a lot of questions about Jesus, so they must have taught them, too. I’m just glad she likes it. We need to attend and this makes it so much easier to go. After church, we invited the Murray’s over for dinner and playtime. Kaylea was tired, so she had a few meltdowns, but all in all, they had a good time. It was nice to get some adult conversation in, but still spend time with the kids.

Sunday was very laid back – when we woke up, we actually didn’t have any plans (very unusual in our house). Jordy went to the gym and Kaylea and I headed to the park. Kaylea and I were there so long, Jordy ended up joining us after he showered. We had lunch at home. I went for a pedicure and then met up with Kaylea & Jordy at Nana’s house. Kaylea played a lot with Shannan. We left for dinner at Tumbleweed before looking at another house. I asked the server to bring all of Kaylea’s ingredients on the side so she could make her own taco. She was SO EXCITED! I think she ate better, too. She kept asking when we could go back to Tumbleweed (in the past, she doesn’t like going there). We ended the night looking at a house. It was gorgeous. I’m still not sure if it is exactly what we want, but we’ll see. We meet with a builder on Wednesday to get additional information. When we came home, Kaylea played at Mimi’s for about an hour. She was pretty exhausted and actually went to bed early (for this girl). Jordy and I had a little time to relax together before getting some sleep ourselves. Nothing too extravagant, but it was a pretty perfect weekend!

GROUPON - huber's orchard & winery

I was browsing Facebook on Saturday night when I saw a friend post about a Groupon for Huber's Orchard & Winery.  I decided to look into and boy am I glad I did.  What a fantastic deal!  For $29 you received admission for 4 to the family fun park, 2 bags of mining gemstones, pizza, 4 soft drinks, 4 ice cream cones, and a loaf of fresh baked bread!

We were already going up to pick strawberries with my mom, but this got Jordy to join us as well.  We had a full day.  We spent about 4 hours up there, came home with plenty of berries, and a lot of great family memories.

dinner club

Saturday night, Jordy and I had plans with our dinner club friends.  We head out to Feast BBQ and an entire crew came to play with Kaylea.  Trina, Linda (Trina's mom), Mikey, and my mom ended up spending the evening with this little darling.  I  never get any pcitures and Trina is camera crazy, so I knew if I just told her to take a few pictures, I would have plenty to select from.  Judging from the pictures, it looks like they had a great time playing together.
