happy turkey day

Happy Thanksgiving! This Thanksgiving was different than last because Kaylea was running around everywhere. However, she didn't eat anymore "real" food than she did last year. There are times I truly wonder if she is ever going to eat table food regularly. We celebrated at our house and then at Jordy's cousin's house in the Knobs. Kaylea was great the entire day. She was very tired after our first celebration. I had to get Meagan to keep her awake so we could nap with her. You know how turkey makes you tired, right?

Pretending to Eat Her Food

Thankful for my mom - that she is cancer free
(and she is thankful that she has hair this year)

I realize my eyes are closed,
but it was the best we could do...and everyone else looks great.

This video speaks for itself.

bubbles

I found this video on my phone tonite. I was blowing bubbles in the garage with Kaylea & Doodle.

video - turtles

We took Kaylea to see Santa at the mall last week. She didn't want anything to do with Santa. However, she really enjoyed playing on the turtles.

playing with kaidyn

Saturday night Kaylea got to spend some time hanging out with her friend Kaidyn. Kaylea enjoyed playing with Kaidyn's toys and eating pizza 2 nights in a row.

outside in

Jordy and I took Kaylea to a recently opened play place called Outside In. It was perfect. There isn't a lot to it, but it is perfect for someone Kaylea's size. The basement, which is where we played, has a toddler room for kids 4 and under. We played for about an hour before heading home for Kaylea's nap time. Kaylea loved the bouncy. I found it odd that of all the parents that were there, Jordy was the only daddy! Mommy and daddy haven't been feeling well this weekend either, so we participated in nap time.

a real pear

Kaylea still eats a lot of baby food - I don't know how to get her used to the textures, but I continue to try. On Saturday, she seemed pretty interested in this pear. She took several bites before throwing it on the floor!

happy birthday brenden

Brenden celebrated his 10th birthday this weekend. Where does the time go? He had a party at Lazer Blaze on Friday night. Kaylea wasn't old enough to play, but let me tell you, if they would have let her, she would have. We took her into the observation deck and she wasn't scared one bit. She wanted in on the action! Kaylea just loves her cousin Brenden.

new chair

That's right - Miss Kaylea has a new potty chair. She is always telling me that she has "pooped" so I wanted to at least get her comfortable with the chair. I'm not sure when we will actually start working on it, but I know that for now she likes to sit on the chair or point at it and say, "potty."

dog

Kaylea went shopping with Nana & Pop on Sunday and this is what she came home with - she pets it and says, "nice." We are always telling her to pet doodle nicely. Tonite she actually said, "pet nice."

poor baby

Kaylea has been under the weather the past few days. We noticed she wasn't feeling well on Sunday night and that was confirmed when she went to be at 6:30! We took her temperature and no fever. I was certain that she was hot. I even made Jordy take our temperatures, too. On Monday, when she woke up, Jordy said she was not feeling well. I made plans to stay home with her. Within 20 or 30 minutes she seemed like her normal self. She was wanting to slide and play. I ended up taking her to day care. They called me within 2 hours and said her temperature was 102! I picked her up and took her to the doctor. They think it could be an ear infection and a virus. We got some medicine and went home. Kaylea was extra snugly. I enjoyed all of our calm time together. My mom was off on Tuesday and took care of Kaylea. She seemed back to her old self. She is back at day care today and ready to play!

jealous, maybe

We took Kaylea over to meet Alton on Monday. She liked him, from a distance. When mommy or daddy tried holding him she screamed and cried real tears. Even the poppy didn't help. We probably shouldn't have taken her on a Monday. I've noticed that she is much clingier on Mondays (I think because she has us all to herself on the weekend and doesn't go to day care). Alton was sweet as could be, though. Good thing we only wanted one little monster.

dare devil

Kaylea is a little dare devil. She woke up early this morning, so she had to come downstairs with me while I dried my hair. When I turned around, she was sliding down the plastic slide that Jordy had moved into the room. She must have gone down it 20 times. I moved it upstairs this morning so Mimi could see how much she loved it. Check out the video.

15 months

I am a little late posting this, but better late than never. Here are some things our sweet baby girl has been doing since 15 months.

  • Kaylea is a mocking bird - she tries to repeat everything you say. There are way too many words for me to list, but some of her favorites include shoes, socks, feet, coke, cat, cup, doodle, cookie, cracker, juice, no, and bye.
  • She loves to dance - she spins in circles.
  • She tries to sing songs - ABC & Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
  • She still eats a lot of baby food, but she also loves juice, Goldfish, bread, grilled cheese, cookies, and crackers.
  • She loves to play outside and will say, "side" when she wants to go.
  • Kaylea loves the doodle - she likes to pet her, share her food with her, and throw the ball to her.
  • She takes one nap a day, usually lasting 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
  • She is very attached to her blanket, poppy, and mommy.
  • She loves bath & shower time.
  • She knows several of her body parts - she can point to all of them and say most of them - head (including sleepy head), hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tongue, teeth, and feet.
  • The girl likes TV (I know, bad mommy). She actually picks up the remote and says, "TV." She likes Mikey & Sponge Bob the best.
  • She is a very independent 15 month old.
  • She likes day care, but likes when we pick her up. As soon as she sees us, she says, "Bye" to everyone.

mummy

It's no secret - Kaylea loves dancing, singing, creatures! When we were at Target on Friday afternoon, I noticed they had a few little creatures for 90% off. Kaylea wore out the batteries in the "monster mash" but we were lucky to be able to replace it with the "cupid shuffle" mummy. She carries the thing down the hall and makes it dance.

welcome alton

Our friends, Amy & Art welcomed a baby boy into the world on November 4th. He weighed 6 pounds, nine ounces and was 19 inches long. We were very excited to meet him. Amy & I have been friends since 7th grade home and job class, so it was awesome to watch her go through the pregnancy experience. I am sure we will get to spend plenty of time with Alton Joseph!

what a difference a year makes

I was looking back at a picture of Kaylea last Halloween - our little monkey was so tiny. This year, she was wild & crazy, walking up to each house and taking candy from the bowls. It is amazing how much our baby has grown in just a year.

happy halloweenie

Kaylea thoroughly enjoyed trick or treating this year. She was one very lucky girl - not only did she get tons of treats, but she also go to see a bunch of special people in her life today. We started through the neighborhood at 6:00 and finished just a little after 7:00. She loved going to the doors. When someone would put the candy bowl out for her to pick something, she did not hesitate. She reached for a "few" pieces. Sometimes she would attempt to give them whatever she already had in her hand.

monster mash

This video shows Kaylea after she had gone trick or treating. We gave her a mini-milky way. It's really the first candy bar she has ever tasted. She didn't eat too much of it, but she seemed to enjoy it.
