Give Mommy Kisses

Kaylea loves to give people "kisses."

C-A-R-D-S

We've been working with Kaylea on the Cards cheer. She usually gets really excited when we do it. Of course, when the camera comes out, she gets a little shy.

Santa's Little Helper

Today we put up our Christmas decorations. We toned it down a bit compared to previous years, but we did put lights up outside and inside. We usually put up 2 trees, but we only put up the easy one this year. This could become our new tradition until we get a new house and have taller ceilings. Our little helper slept through most of the ordeal and hung out with the Millie through the rest.

Kaylea's First Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for. Even though cancer has come into our family (my mama & my cousin), we recognize how lucky we are. I am happy that I am able to recognize the blessings in our lives.

Kaylea had a wonderful first Thanksgiving! We were so lucky that my mom was able to cook for everyone. We had our family over for an early dinner and then celebrated with Jordy's extended family tonight. Kaylea did great. I was worried how she would react to so many people, but she did not seem to mind at all.

Since we got the go ahead from the doctor, we also let Kaylea have her first taste of sweet potatoes. It seemed an appropriate food for Thanksgiving. She gobbled them up. She made one funny face and then wanted her daddy to hurry. They were gone in no time flat.

Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall - who's the prettiest baby of them all? We are biased, but we have to say, it is Kaylea! Over the past few weeks, Kaylea has really started enjoying seeing herself in the mirror. We bought a mirror for the side of her bed, but she really likes looking in the big mirror in our bathroom. Jordy was able to capture the adorable image above.

Creature of Habit

Our baby girl is a create of habit. We worked so hard to put her on a routine early and it really paid off. We learned a valuable lesson this past Friday - do not mess with the girl's routine. We went to Lazer Blaze to celebrate our nephew's birthday. The party started at 7pm. We thought we could just feed Kaylea her oatmeal in the party room an all would be good. We were wrong. She didn't want to eat. She tried to sleep, but there was too much going on around her. She was fussy, which is unusual for her. We left early and made it home a little after 8:30. The girl would not go to sleep. She was irritable and tired, but just would not go to sleep. Finally, Jordy was able to get her down after 10pm.

Kaylea Wants To Crawl

Ok, so maybe the title of this post is a bit exaggerated. However, as you can see from the pictures below, Kaylea is ready to move. She obviously does not have the strength at this time, but she is kicking her legs like crazy. She has not rolled from her back to her belly just yet, but she is so close. She actually turns about half way over and decides to come back. I cannot believe she has been in our lives for 4 1/2 months. She is amazing!

Three Month Photos

These are just a few of my favorite pictures from Kaylea's 3 month shots. They were taken by http://www.courtneyparisphotography.com/. I highly recommend her if you have the need for photos in the future. We loved the pictures!

Ready for Winter

Kaylea & I spent Veteran's Day with Millie. We did a little shopping and I just could not pass up this adorable toboggan. Doesn't she look sweet?

I should have posted this last week. I posted it to facebook, but forgot to put it on the blog. This was Kaylea talking to Brittney on Halloween night. She was telling her all about her monkey costume.

Happy 4 Month Birthday Kaylea

Kaylea was 4 months old yesterday. However, I waited to update the blog until today because I am off work and because we went for her 4 month check up today. Kaylea continues to be a healthy baby. Even with her daddy having the flu and her mommy having a terrible cold, she has managed to remain illness-free. She weighed in a 13 pounds, 1 ounce. She is 24 inches long. We went to a new doctor today - It's Dr. Nassim's office (my old doctor), but we saw the nurse practitioner, Lindsay Polly. I was pleased. I am so glad I made the decision to switch.

It was so funny. Lindsay asked if Kaylea was cooing and blowing raspberries. Right on cue, Kaylea began talking and blowing bubbles. She wanted to speak for herself. The doctor gave us the OK to start the oatmeal (we jumped the gun a few days, but I knew they were going to tell us we could). They also said after a few weeks of oatmeal, we could start solid foods. We are going to start with veggies and move to fruits. I think we will wait at least another month.

Kaylea did not have bad reaction to the shots. I thought she would sleep all day, but that hasn't been the case. She actually has slept less today than most days. I guess she just likes all of this extra quality time with her mama.

Kaylea has turned over a few more times. Jordy finally got to witness it. I still haven't captured it on video, but it's no big deal. She is such a happy baby. I know I shouldn't say it, but she is just so good. She rarely cries. She has been sleep through the night (from 8:30 to 6:30). It's hard to believe my little munchkin is going to turn into a monster (teenager) one day.

She loves looking at herself in the mirror. She laughs out loud and babbles all the time. She loves to play on her mat. She is taking 6 - 8 ounces ever 4 hours. She has been the perfect addition to our little family.

Millie Update

I think this is the sweetest picture of my mom and Kaylea. I know that Millie does not have any hair, but it is obvious that none of us care, especially her favorite granddaughter! My mom is half way through her treatments. We cannot wait until this is cancer is behind us.

Oatmeal - Yummy!

Kaylea sampled her first "real" food this weekend. She tried banana oatmeal. She wasn't really sure what to think about it. She definitely thought it was funny.n Needless to say, more of the oatmeal ended up on her face than in her belly. We tried it on Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday. By Sunday, she started to get the hang of how to swallow it, instead of spitting it out.

Not Sure What To Think Of This New Adventure
