Happy 5th Birthday Aubrey

Saturday afternoon we headed to Build a Bear to celebrate the birthday of one of Kaylea’s classmates, Aubrey. She was turning 5. It was a fun time. There is no party, so we just hung out in the store, but Kaylea was able to create her first build a bear. She selected a pinkish colored bear and stuff him. I also let her pick out an outfit and some shoes for the bear. She has been loving this bear since she had it made. Kaylea has attended a lot of school birthday parties this year. I am hopeful that as many kids can come to Kaylea’s summer birthday party.

Sesame Street Live

Friday night Kaylea and I had a mommy/Kaylea date night. We started the night by heading to the Spaghetti Shop for dinner. We headed to Louisville to see Sesame Street Live. We got there a little early and I was very happy with our front row seats. We enjoyed the show and a ton of Extras. We had a snow cone, cotton candy, a balloon, and a flashlight. Jordy and I took Kaylea back when she was about 18 months and this was certainly a better experience. She watched the entire show and did a little dancing. I love being able to take her to these types of things.

Valentine's Day Tradition

For the past few years we have celebrated Valentine's Day together as a family of 3.  Daddy buys flowers, we order pizza, and have some kind of treat for dessert.  This year was no exception.  Kaylea got a new game that she really enjoys playing.  And Kaylea ended the night by doing crafts on her arm - that's a picture of her!  Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy 5th Birthday Lucy

We celebrated Lucy's 5th birthday with a Frozen party at her house.  It was a fun party, but I didn't know anyone really.  I totally didn't think about this and didn't take Jordy with me.  Luckily there was wine!!!

Kaylea had a blast playing with the little girls and munching on tortilla chips.  Have I told you that my child doesn't like cake?  Hmmm...

Presidents' Day

Kaylea and I had the day off together on Monday.  Poor Daddy had to go to work.  I asked Kaylea what she wanted to do and she said, “How about we watch TV all day?”  Um, I didn’t think that was the best plan. We started our morning off with a trip to Christian Academy.  They had a special visitor, Mr. Magic.  He did a magic show about teeth.  Kaylea really enjoyed it.  I talked her into a group picture with her class, but of course, I only captured the one where they were being silly.

We left school and headed to the science center for some fun.  Kaylea has been talking about science experiments a lot lately.  She really seemed to have a great time.  There were a ton of hands on activities.  We played for a while and I captured a few pictures, but I was really making an effort to be present in the moment.  We left the science center and I let her have McDonald's.  She spent much of the afternoon doing arts & crafts and watching TV as requested.

Baking

Sunday afternoon I let Kaylea do one of her favorite things - she baked in the kitchen.  Well, she doesn't actually bake. She just likes to mix a bunch of ingredients together and call its soup.  This time I even let her put it in the oven.  She was happy to share it with Nana when she stopped by for a visit.

A Winter Trip to the Zoo

It has been so cold around here - a polar vortex some would say.  However, we had a 50 degree heat wave today.  We decided to take quick trip to the zoo.  This is the second time we have been in the cold months and we are in agreement that this may be the best time to go.  We got to see a whole lot of animals and there is no wait for anything.  We made it through all of our favorite parts of the zoo.

After leaving the zoo, we made a quick trip to Target before heading home to take a break before dinner.  We have been wanting to try BoomBozz Pizza, so we headed that way before it should be busy.  We enjoyed the time together, but were not huge fans of the food.

It's been a good weekend, but I have been bad about documenting things lately.  I'm going to try to do a much better job.

Dental Check-Up

Kaylea and I were able to spend Martin Luther King Day together. It was much needed after a week away in Pittsburgh. We started the morning with a trip to the dentist. Kaylea did a great job. I went back with her, but I certainly didn't need to. She even had x-rays done. After the dentist, Kaylea decided she wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese. We met friends there for some fun. We played for quite some time. We planned to go see Frozen, but she decided she wanted to hang out at home instead, so that's just what we did.

Karate Class

Kaylea used to take karate at day care in Lafayette, but we have yet to find a class in Southern Indiana that is similar. We decided to take a shot at Pro Martial Art. They just opened on Charlestown Road and were offering two free classes to try it out. Kaylea seems to like it and follows instructions better than in most cases, so I think we are going to try it out.

Happy 5th Birthday Gabby

On Saturday afternoone we celebrated Gabby's 5th birthday in Georgetown with a Frozen party. Kaylea goes to school with Gabby. Her mom did a great job putting the party together. There were lots of activities, a balloon maker, snow cone machines, and cotton candy machine. Kaylea had a great time dancing and playing with her friends.
