southern play date

I was very excited to have a play date with some of the ladies from our dinner club.  I always try to make plans with other couples, but it seems like forever since I've been able to get together with our friends and their kids.

Kristi was nice enough to host our play date.  She made some yummy snacks (Kaylea ate 4 little pigs in a blanket - she never eats that much).  The kids played and Kaylea read books, while we all talked.  My camera battery had died by the time we made it, so I had to steal these from Erin's blog.  It was great seeing these kids!

waterfront park

When we go home, sometimes it seems we lose custody of our sweet girl.  My mom, Trina, and Meagan took Kaylea to Waterfront Park on Saturday afternoon.  We didn't go, but based on the pictures, I think it is safe to say she had a great time!

Kaylea loves these people - she talks about Meagan all of the time.  It is her favorite name!  She love to pretend she is Meagan and she is a teacher.  I'm glad they got to spend time together.

neighborhood pool

We drove back to Lafayette this morning.  We wanted to get home early enough to enjoy the day before going to bed.  Plus, we had a lot of laundry to take care of.

When we got home, I went to the grocery (fun, I know) and also bought some flowers.  Kaylea helped me plant flowers while daddy cut the grass.

We decided to enjoy the water at the neighborhood pool (we've never had this luxury before).  Then I got in the water, realized how cold it was, and I got out.  Kaylea got to enjoy the water with daddy while mommy watched.  I can't help it.  This gal likes her pool water like she like her bath water!

The pool is going to be great because there is a baby pool that Kaylea can be independent in and the big pool that she can work on her swimming skills in.  We will have to take her to get some fun pool toys - we were a little unprepared today, but it was still fun.

We took advantage of the B1G1 coupon for Logan's tonight.  I was disappointed that it was dine in only, but we ventured out and enjoyed a "cheap" steak dinner.  What a great finish to a long weekend.  Do I really have to go to work tomorrow???

class of 2012 - meagan kay lowery

We had an excuse to drive back to Southern Indiana this weekend - my cousin, Meagan graduated high school on Friday night.  I was so excited and so proud of her.  We left work early on Friday and headed back.  Kaylea went to spend the night with Nana & Pop.  I wasn't sure how long the graduation would take and I didn't want to make Kaylea sit through something after a 3 hour drive home.

The graduation was small, but so much fun.  We cheered for Meagan when she crossed the stage.  My mom took everyone out for dinner at Cheddar's afterward.  Meagan was surprised with a car (now the girl just needs to get her license).  We had a great time seeing family that we don't get to see often enough.

Jordy and I gave Meagan cash, but I found a creative way to give it to her off of Pinterest.  I put the money inside of a bunch of balloons and blew them up.  She had to pop them to collect the money.  I cannot tell you how proud I am of this girl.  She is going to be attending IUS in the fall.  She will be the first in her family to go to college - GO MEAGAN!

playing dress up

Kaylea wanted to play dress up on Wednesday night.  Guess what she wanted to be?  A letter carrier, of course.   She wrote a letter, applied a stamp (princess sticker), and we put it in the mail box.  She is all about the mail carrier lately :)

I got a hold of Kaylea's hair while was distracted and braided her hair. She ended up liking it.  I'm hoping she will let me do it again sometime.

yard sale finds and nana & pop

I decided to go to some yard sales with friends this morning.  I didn't really set out to buy anything specifically.  In fact, I just planned to look.  Early in the morning I found 2 pairs of shorts.  I wanted something cheap to put at day care in case Kaylea needs a change of clothes.  Next, I was super excited because I found a Barney DVD!  I would have been happy with that.  However, during our final neighborhood, I found a rocking horse.  The price was marked at $60 and it was pretty much like new.  I went back to get the number because I didn't think it would fit in the car.  They said they would take $40 for it, so I paid for it.  I'm not exactly sure how we moved things around in Jen's car, but we did and managed to get it home right away.  I was going to save it for K's birthday, but she saw it and I was excited to give it to her.  She did not want to get off of it. When we left to go to the Farmer's Market she said, "bye Pony...see ya when we get back."  I would say it was a successful day.

Kaylea stayed home and helped Daddy finish the landscape rock.  I was impressed that they had completed the project when we got home.

Poor, Pop!  He has to work six days a week, so they don't get to visit too often.  They came up tonight after he got off work.  They got here around 9:30 and Kaylea was super excited!  We celebrated Pop's Birthday with cupcakes and a candle.  Kaylea helped him blow the candle out.  She ate icing and was off the walls for awhile.  Someone, she laid down with Pop and fell asleep quickly.  I guess we kept that girl busy today!

2009 cutie picnic

When I came to Lafayette, I was lucky enough to find a group of people to connect with through GLAMs.  The first play group I ever went to was the 2009 Cuties.  It is all parents/kids born in 2009.  Today, we went to a picnic to celebrate their birthdays.  This is the best picture I got.  The picnic started at 4:00 and we ended up staying until 7:00.  We closed the place down!

We had a great time - Kaylea was about as dirty as I've ever seen her.  She fell in the dirt, had dirt in her mouth & hair, and all over her feet.  She needed a bath, but we decided to go to Target, first!  What a great day!

friday night fun

Kaylea hung out with Alex & Emma on Friday night while we went to dinner club.  We decided to let her lay down with us when we came home.  We were going to let her watch a movie in our bed.  She told me she had to put on her hat first.  She didn't end up wanting to sleep with us - she actually wanted to go to her own bed, but not until her Barney movie was over.

mother's day 2012

My heart was very fulfilled this Mother's Day.  I felt overwhelming emotion today as we sat in church and sang praise songs.  It brought tears to my eyes.  How lucky am I?  What have I done to deserve this amazing family?  I have made plenty of mistakes in my life and they have taught me to be a better person.  I truly feel blessed.

Kaylea made me some Mother's Day presents at school and she was excited to give them to me. I am so glad that she loves giving.  Jordy had her give me some flowers and tell me Happy Mother's Day.  My mom was here early in the weekend so Jordy & I went out to dinner and afterward he bought me a new camera.  I have been wanting a small camera that I can carry in my purse.  We had a small one, but it took awhile to start and it didn't take very fast pictures.  Now I have one.  I told him I really didn't need anything, but he really wanted to get me one.

We celebrated today with Cinnabons for breakfast, checking out a new church in Lafayette, some playtime with Kaylea, a nap for this mama, getting my nails done, and dinner with my family at Logan's.  Kaylea must have told me Happy Mother's Day 10 times today!  She also told me that I am her favorite friend.  Did I mention she slept until 9:15 today?  We are now kicking back watching Survivor.

bubble bath

It's no secret - Kaylea loves taking a bath in my tub.  We turned on the jets the other night and she had a great time playing the bubbles.  She had them all over her face!  I just had to get a picture of this silly girl.

water slide time

These first pictures show Kaylea playing with daddy and her friend Pincher.  I grew up playing with and talking to "Pincher" and Kaylea seems to like him just as well.  In the pictures below, she is flying on his back.

Sunday afternoon, we invited some friends over.  Kaylea and Owen got to play on the water slide, jump on the trampoline, read books, and just hang out, while we got some adult conversation.  We had a great day and Kaylea was so tired at the end of night that she fell asleep watching Barney in her rocking chair!

random picture - but this is how our girl wanted to go to bed!

more painting

Kaylea has been doing more artwork this past week.  She painted some pictures, played with glue, glitter glue, and pom poms.  She loves being crafty.

cooking with mimi

My mom came up this week to help me with a breakfast for my employees at work.  Kaylea had to get in on the cooking action.  She rolled some dough and then I let her "paint" with different sauces.  She painted with yogurt, ranch dressing, ketchup, and barbecue sauce!  She had a great time.

Kaylea just loves her Mimi.  I cannot explain it.  I cannot tell you how many times Kaylea told me to get away so she could just hang out with her Mimi.  I had to send my mom home to get my sweet girl back!

tricycle

This was a present for Kaylea a long time ago, and she is finally big enough to enjoy it.  Honestly, she isn't very good at it.  She would rather go backward than forward and she gets frustrated.  This was the first night she had much luck riding it, so I had to capture some pictures.  She liked driving it in the rain.

we're having a picnic

We have eaten dinner the last 2 nights at the park - I am a horrible chef this week.  We've had Arby's & Subway!  However, we have had such a great time.  Kaylea is always talking about having a picnic when we are in the house, so I thought we would go out to the picnic tables in our neighborhood park and enjoy dinner.  It was cute because she kept calling it the barn.  It is a red roof shelter area.  After dinner, we spent the evening at the park.  Kaylea took off running on the way back to the house and tripped and fell and has 2 nice strawberries on her knees, but she survived.  I don't have any pictures to go with this post.  We were having too much fun to remember to grab the camera.
