Harvest Homecoming Princess Camp

Kaylea participated in the Harvest Homecoming Princess camp again this year.  She did it last year and seemed to enjoy it so I asked if she wanted to perform again.  This year's song was "Get Your Sparkle On."  It was very appropriate.  I am looking forward to seeing the video.

Gymnastics

Kaylea started gymnastics again last week, but this time we moved to TNT. Unlike SIGS, this is just a tumbling class and there are only two kids in each class. Kaylea liked it so much better and so did I. I spoke to her instructor afterward just to see what she thought. She told me that Kaylea has natural ability and that she doesn't see that very often. She said that she is very flexible and strong. I told her that we had been at SIGS a year ago, but sat out because she didn't like it and they didn't like her. She couldn't believe it. She said she could tell that she was used to being in a larger class where she had to wait a long time in between turns. She thinks this will improve over time.

Kindergarten Update

Kaylea is about 4 weeks into school and things are going well. Morning ride to school are one of my favorite parts of the day. We have aout 15 minutes to chat. I usually have to talk for a stuffed animal that rides with us, but Istill get a lot of good information out of her. Once we pull into the school parking lot I let her come sit in the front seat with me. They have a different special class everyday of the week. One of her favorite special classes is library. I don't know the librarian, but he must be super special becuase she remembers a lot of what he says. She actually likes all of her special classes, but that's her favorite. We are lucky that my mom has been able to pick her up everyday after school. She enjoys that time, too. We move into our new house this wekeend and she is insisting on riding the bus. I told her maybe I could still take her one day a week.

Build A Bear

It was a rainy Sunday and I knew the next few weeks were going to be busy preparing to move so Kaylea & I went to Build a Bear. She had a gift card from her birthday and some money from a belated birthday card. She built this cat, Twinkle Toes. She has een everywhere with us lately. After riding to school with us in the morning, the cat often reports to work with me. I took a few pictures to show Kaylea what she does when she spends the day with me.

We're Moving

Yep, we are on the move - this time we aren't going to far.  We decided we needed more space.   We have purchased a new home and already have an accepted offer on this one.  It happened so quickly and just in time to get Kaylea's school changed before the start of the year.  We close on the house next week and then we will move in.  We are super excited!

Kindergarten

Kaylea started kindergarten at Grant Line Elementary School this week  What a whirlwind it has been!  I have been one nervous mom about his big day.  I woke up at 5am thinking of things I would need to tell her.

She woke up ready to go and only a little nervous.  I made her scrambled eggs to go with the cereal she wanted for breakfast. She was excited to take her picture in front of the house.  She doesn't really like having her picture taken so I knew she was excited when she agreed.

On the ride to school we talked about what would be different from Christian Academy.  We talked about not having Chapel each week and that there wouldn't be a prayer at lunch time, but that she could say her own.  We said a prayer in the car on the way to school and Kaylea added to the prayer.  I knew she was ready to go.

We walked into the gym around 7:45 and found her teacher.  We took a few photos and Kaylea joined her class.  She didn't cry.  She did want lots of hugs and kisses from me.  I reminded her that the day would actually be shorter than a day at preschool because Mimi would be picking her up earlier and I was dropping her off later.  That seemed to make her happy.

At 8am the principal got his microphone and they did the Pledge of Allegiance and had a moment of silence before leaving to go to their classrooms for the day.  One final hug and kiss and my baby entered big girl world!

When she got home from school Kaylea said it was a great day!  She had no complaints.  By the end of day two she told me she had already made two new friends at school.  We are looking forward to what the new school year brings!
