RIP Doodle

It was a sad day on Monday. We had to put our doodle dog to sleep. We basically knew it was coming. She hadn't been eating and wasn't completely acting like herself. She still seemed happy, but after a visit to the vet, an X-ray, and an ultrasound, we found out that the dog had cancer. We tried giving her some medication, but it did not seem to help. We tried to prepare Kaylea for this. I asked her what she thought happened to dogs when they die and she said they go to heaven with Jesus. She cried about it and said she didn't want Doodle to die. She asked if we could take her picture with Doodle so that she would remember what she looked like. That is what we did. This picture was taken on Saturday night. Doodle woke up Monday morning with a bunch of liquid on her back. Luckily, Jordy was able to spend the entire day with her and feed her McDoubles, the only thing she would eat. We met my dad at Hillside and put her to sleep at 4:30. It was sad. I will always remember the great 8.5 years we had with Doodle.

Papa Johns 10 Miler

Wow!  Today, I ran the Papa Johns 10 Miler with 4 of my best friends.  This was challenging because I injured my leg on February 28th and have had to take the past 2 week off completely.  I did not have a personal best, but I did about 10:35 miles so I was extremely happy.  I love having friends who love the same things as me.  This was the final run or our triple crown.

Moments - The Lost Sheep

Kaylea came home from school one day last week telling me that she got picked to act as the lost sheep at school.  She had trouble explaining exactly what that meant.  I couldn't tell if she was practicing for the end of the year program or what.  She just kept saying that Carter was the shepherd and that she was nervous that he was going to carry her on his shoulders.

At the end of the week, this book came home in her backpack.  After a few comments to the teacher, I found out that she got to go on stage during Chapel and act as the lost sheep.  The teacher also told me that she loves being on stage.

Meet Baby Abby

This past weekend we headed to Lafayette to meet the Zuercher's new addition, Abby. We drove up after work on Friday and spent a little time with the family before taking Owen with us to the hotel and heading to the pool. The kids got to swim for about an hours before we headed to the room. After some popcorn and a little TV, they finally passed out. Kaylea decided she couldn't sleep in the bed, so she gave Owen the entire bed and slept on the floor. The next morning we had breakfast at XXX! It was yummy. The kids talked non-stop. We went back to visit with Jen & Matt and then decided to go to Jump It. The kids had a great time. It was great to meet the new baby. I'm so glad Jen finally got a baby girl to help her balance out the men :)

Living for the Weekends

I'm not going to lie - while I enjoy my job, I live for the weekends!  This weekend was no exception.  Friday night we ate dinner at home (something new we are trying).  My mom eats with us often.  She and Kaylea played together for awhile before Kaylea & I went headed to the grocery store.  She picked out a cake she wanted to make.  When we came home she made the cake.  Other than adding an entire container of sprinkles, she did a great job frosting the cake.

Saturday morning I ran the Rodes City Run 10k with some friends.  My leg was really hurting, but I have trained way too hard not to run.  After grabbing breakfast I came home.  I was hurting.  Jordy took Kaylea to the park to play while I rested.  Saturday night Nana came to play with Kaylea while we went out to dinner with friends at Wild Rita's.  It was pretty tasty!  I would recommend trying it.

We have also been doing a lot of cooking around here.  We used to eat out a lot, but we have a record going for the past 3 weeks.  I don't think we've ever eaten at home this often, and everything is home cooked!

Snow Tubing

We have an awesome time Friday night snow tubing at Paoli Peaks.  It was an impromptu trip - we headed toward Paoli after work.  Kaylea wasn't too excited about going, but I knew if I could get her on the hill, she would have a great time.  I was absolutely right!  She had a blast. The first time we went down the slope connected.  After that, Kaylea pretty much wanted to go down by herself.  We thought she would probably only last out in the cold for 30 minutes tops, but we were there for over an hour.  I even got a great video.  I hope I can remember to do this next year.
