what we've been doing

Who would have thought Jordy & I would ever be artist? Guess what? We are. These are pictures that Kaylea asks us to draw and I have to tell you, she knows what all of the pictures are. Do you?
We've also been bowling. Kaylea likes to help set the pins up.

potty chair drop out

I was certain Kaylea was ready for potty training. I was so certain that I called day care on Friday and tried to confirm that she could be moved up to the 2 year old room on Monday (she goes to day care part time this summer - to hold her spot, but more because she loves it and we want to keep her in the routine). I.was.wrong.
We started on Friday night. She did not use the potty one time. She sat on the potty and sat on the potty, but would stand up and pee on the floor :(
We decided to keep at it on Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised when she used the potty 2 times in the morning, but that was it. No more. She would rather go on the floor. And it didn't bother her to have wet panties or to pee on herself.
I guess this little girl just isn't quite ready. So we will wait. And try again.

dance class - take 2!

I took Kaylea to dance class on Saturday. It's actually more of a tumbling & dance class. I am almost certain I don't have to worry about having a cheerleader or dancer on my hands ;-)
Kaylea spent 10 minutes crying, 10 minutes watching the other little girl in the class (who has a great chance of being a cheerleader or dancer), and the other 10 minutes participating. I don't know what it is. She is really excited to go to dance class and when we get home she wants to try all of her new moves, but she doesn't like the audience at the class.
We plan to finish the class, but I don't know that I will sign her up for another session.

dance class

Kaylea started a dance/tumble class on Saturday. There are 4 kids in the class and Kaylea is the youngest. They spend time dancing to music, acting like animals, and doing some gymnastics moves. I'm trying to expose her to all kinds of activities. I didn't get any pictures. At first she was unsure, but she started to get the hang of it. Even cuter, is that since we've been home she's been doing log rolls and forward rolls like crazy. I'll try to get some pictures or a video next week.

happy father's day

Kaylea has been such a daddy's girl lately. Perfect timing for Father's Day. It's hard to describe the bond between Jordy & Kaylea. You can see how much they love each other when they are together. We celebrated Father's Day with Jordy's family. We had Wick's pizza and the Pie Kitchen for dessert. Kaylea got her daddy a great present - he doesn't have to cut the grass all summer! I'm so thankful that Kaylea has such an awesome man in her life.

final post - vacation & random pictures

All in all we had a great trip...we thought we were getting a preview of the terrible 2's on the way home. Kaylea was great on the flight, but as soon as we got in line for customs she was not happy. She was screaming and throwing a fit, to the point laying on the floor. Nothing we did made her happy. She wanted to push the stroller. We let her and she screamed. She wanted her monkey. She got it and she screamed. It was crazy. I finally got her to calm down by giving her a few crackers. We still had a 2 hour flight and 2 hour drive home to go...and guess what? Our flight was delayed an hour. She screamed her head off for the first 45 minutes of the 2nd flight. I think she was overwhelmed and tired. She was surrounded by people and excitement all day. We usually give her a little K time after daycare to chill out. She didn't have that on this particular day.
I thought she would sleep on the limo ride home since it was at midnight...NOPE! She was wild, but didn't cry nearly as much. When we got home, she was so excited to see her toys and her house that she played and played. She brought out every baby, stuffed animal, played with her blocks, and just sang. It was like Christmas. She finally went to sleep at 3am!
she was not happy, but check out her tan ;)

family vacation 2011- punta cana

We were blessed this year and able to take another amazing vacation with the family. Along with my mom and cousins, we headed to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to the Hard Rock All Inclusive Resort. The flights were so much cheaper out of Cincy, so we rented a limo to take us to the airport. We spent the night in Newark. We didn't realize our luggage was going to be checked through the night, so it got a little bit interesting, but we made it. Kaylea was amazing on both of these flights (stay tuned). Someone sitting in front of us even commented about her being the best baby they had ever been on a flight with.

sand or snow?

Something I wanted to remember to tell Kaylea about when she gets older. We took her to the beach. She hated the sand. She didn't want to walk in it or touch it. She kept calling it snow. After we told her a few times that it was sand, she started saying it, but it was too cute. She did let me put her feet in the water (until a big wave splashed up in her face)!

kaylea likes to slide

Kaylea has no fear when it comes to the water. I didn't get a picture of it, but there was a huge water slide that she cried to go on. You had to be 48'' to ride. There was a small language barrier and I thought if Meagan or Mikey went down with her, she would be able to go, but they wouldn't let her. She was so disappointed. She just kept saying, "want to slide," and crying big tears. We finally got her to go over to the little slides and she had a blast. I bet each time we played in this section she slid 30 times. She tried to copy daddy at one point and go face first. She ended up with a face full of water, but she was a champ and got right up. Needless to say, she had a blast.

How cute is this? We were at the park tonight and Kaylea starting counting the rows of balls. I didn't figure that we could get her to do it again, but she actually did it three more times. Listen at the end, she says "seven." That is apparently her favorite number, because she said it over and over again.
