preschool gymnastics

I forgot to take my camera tonight, but Kaylea started her new gymnastics class.  She didn't like her dance class, but wanted to take gymnastics...until tonight.  She was a grouch and she didn't want to go.  Somehow my mom and I convinced her to go and try.  This was different than last time because the last class was a parent/child class.  This class is for 3 and 4 year olds.  I noticed that when I wasn't involved, Kaylea listened much better than when we went to class with her.  I will definitely get some pictures next time.

After gymnastics, we stopped by the Hawaiian Shave Ice place - we have to get these in before the season is over!

happy 3rd birthday rose

On Thursday, we celebrated our friend Rose's 3rd birthday.  She had a Dora themed party, complete with a taco feast!  She was very excited about her party, and especially all of her presents.  Kaylea had a great time helping her celebrate.

dinner party

Our dinner club in Lafayette did an experiment.  We decided to bring our kids to the party and hire 2 of the older kids to hang out with them.  It went better than I expected.  Kaylea was exhausted and fell asleep in the car on the way over.  She got a 15 minute power nap and it took her a bit to come out and actually warm up, but when she did, she had a great time.

She enjoyed playing in the back yard...eating her taco shell & grapes...and did I mention that Julie has a dry erase wall in one of the bedrooms?  That means Kaylea was allowed to draw on the walls!  How cool is that?

When we got home, she wanted to go see Mimi.  Mimi took her to the park at 10:00 at night!  Then she wanted to come home because mommy and daddy promised she could sleep in our bed that night.  I thought for sure Jordy would end up in the guest room, but he stayed all night with us.

The next day she asked me if we could have a dinner party at our house!  I guess we'll see how we do dinner club next month.

imagination station - hands on trucks 2012

Saturday, we got up early (thanks, Kaylea) and went out for breakfast.  I wanted to run by a neighborhood yard sale (it was a flop), but there was also a house that I had passed one day and really liked and I wanted to show it to Jordy, so we went there.

We decided to check out the hands on truck event.  Basically, there were more than 20 vehicles of all different shapes and sizes.  It is a fund raising event.  Kaylea was only slightly interested in what was going on.  She would only even get on 3 of the vehicles (the school bus & tractor & train).  She did enjoy having a flower painted on her face.  We only ended up staying for an hour, but at least we had something to do that morning.

perfect friday

Friday was about as perfect of a day as I could ask for.  After a full day at Indiana Beach, Kaylea & Daddy played on the trampoline.  When it started getting later, we got out smores supplies and fired up the fire pit.  Kaylea had fun roasting, but she didn't really like eating anything except the chocolate.  Daddy and mommy ate too many!

indiana beach

I worked last Friday because a coworker needed the day off.  I decided that since I could take Friday off, I would spend the day doing something fun with Kaylea.  I figured since the kids were back in school and it was Friday, it would be the perfect day to go to Indiana Beach.  I was a little sad that daddy couldn't join us, but Mimi decided she would go along.

We got up and had breakfast at McDonald's and after stopping at the bank, we hit the road.  We had about an hour drive to get there and we arrived just as they opened.  Kaylea was excited.  There really isn't a ride she won't ride.  The only thing that stops her is not being tall enough.

We had a few sweet moments.  When we were on the scrambler, she said, "thank you mommy."  And as we were walking down the boardwalk she said, "I love you."  Her special request for the day was cotton candy on a stick.  We got to watch it being made since they only had it in the bag.  It was as big as her head!

She loved the carousel most today and named the horse she kept riding, Lucky.  We rode all of the rides in the kiddie section and added on some big rides, too.

baby zuercher

Last Saturday night, we had a play date/family date with the Zuercher Family.  Jordy had joked that she would probably go into labor on Saturday.  Sure enough, just as we were pulling out of our subdivision, I got a text that Jen was in the early stages of labor.  We headed over anyway and enjoyed some pizza and play time.  By 6:30 or so, Jen decided it was time to head to the hospital.  We hung out with Owen for just a few minutes before her mom and sister arrived.  Can you believe the baby was born at 10:24pm on Saturday?

Jordy and I went to the hospital to meet him on Monday.  His name is Elliott and he was super cute and sweet.  I can't wait to get some snuggle time soon.  Congratulations Jen, Matt, & Owen!

is it over already???

This weekend was a little hectic.  We hung out at home on Friday night and ate a healthy meal (we are trying to stick to our budget).  Saturday morning, I worked so another supervisor could be off (and I get to benefit with a long weekend next week).  When I came home from work, Kaylea and I made some cookies I saw on pinterest.  It's a snicker doodle with a Rolo inside.  The picture is courtesy of Kaylea who picked up the camera and asked what she should take a picture of.

Kaylea brought home these pictures from school.  It was her last week in the classroom with Lara and Laci as her teachers.  Next week, she moves to Room 1 with Toni and Christine.  This class was OK, but we aren't heartbroken about the move happening sooner than expected.

Saturday night we planned a play date with The Zuercher Family.  We planned to have pizza and let the kids hang out, as long as Baby Z hadn't arrived.  Jen was due on August 10 (Friday).  Just as we were pulling out of the neighborhood, I got a text saying that she was in the early stages of labor, but they still wanted us to come over.  We arrived around 4:30 and hung out for awhile.  By 6:45, Jen's contractions were 5 minutes apart and she knew it was time to go.  We played with Owen until his grandma arrived just past 7:00.  I was shocked to hear that Jen had the baby at 10:24 p.m.  It was a good thing they headed to the hospital when they did.  Hopefully, he will get a name soon and I will have some pictures to post.

On the way home we decided to get Kaylea a bike.  Owen's grandma brought him one and Kaylea really seemed interested in it.  Until a few weeks ago, I didn't think she was interested in her own tricycle.  She asked for this helmet.  They must teach that somewhere because I haven't discussed it with her.  She definitely needs some practice on the bike, but she enjoyed Mimi pushing her around.

We had a pretty laid back Sunday.  Kaylea snuck in the bedroom last night and Daddy headed to the guest room around midnight.  We had good snuggle time and she slept past 9:00.  We got ready for church and followed with our tradition of lunch and jumping at the mall.  Jordy went to see a movie tonight and my mom watch Kaylea while we met for dinner and had a chance for some adult conversation.  We had a fabulous weekend, even though I can't believe it's already over!

catch up

Trina sent me these pictures of the time Kaylea spent with her family.  We are so lucky to have them in our lives.

baking cupcakes

Kaylea loves to pretend she is baking.  She is always baking a cake or something, so I decided to let her help make some cupcakes on Saturday night.  She was a very good helper.  She poured in all of the ingredients and helped mix!  I told her she needs to find a husband like Jordy who will take care of the dishes after you make a mess.

kaidyn's 4th birthday

We jumped in the car with Mimi Friday afternoon and headed to Southern Indiana to celebrate Kaidyn's birthday.  She turned 4 and she was very excited to celebrate her birthday at Chuck E Cheese.  Kaylea ran around like a crazy lady and had a great time.  She wanted to dance and sing with Chuck E and I tried to hold her back :)  As you can see from the last picture, she really enjoyed her cupcake.

moments

It was getting close to bed time the other night and Kaylea walked into our room carrying the Doodle's bed.  She said, "Look, I found Doodle's crib.  I'm going to bring it back to her, but she can't sleep in it because my cat has to."  And there the dog's "crib" sits in our room floor with a stuffed cat and 2 blankets inside.

our new neighbor

I have waited way to long to make this post - guess who moved in next door?  MIMI!  Yep, we are really feeling blessed to have her up here and so close.  She moved in over the July 4th holiday.  Kaylea has been over to see her almost everyday (not always for long) and has even wanted to spend the night over there.  It's a long story and I'm not going into all of the details, but I leared back in March that our neighbors had purchased a new house and were looking to rent out theirs.  I called and it seemed the price was going to be too much.  However, this person thought my mom would be a great fit and they were willing to lower the price.  The rest is history.  Having my mom here has definitely made my Lafayette experience more enjoyable!

girls day out

I was in Southern Indiana without Jordy this weekend and decided to plan a girls afternoon out.  Eight of my friends/family met at Pretty Nails for pedicures and then we headed to lunch at Tumbleweed (I love that these ladies let me pick because I was missing the Weed).  It was a great way to catch up with everyone...and my sweet mother decided to pick up the tab for lunch.
