Hello Snow Days, Good-Bye Spring Break

The forecast for Monday was calling for snow.  We got lucky and they called school off on Sunday, so we were prepared.  I rarely get a snow day, but it was Presidents' Day so I got to stay home and play.  We did a lot of relaxing, tv watching, had a tea party, and played outside.  Also, it isn't a true adventure unless we attempt to go out and do something fun.  Therefore, that evening we headed to Tomo for dinner and took Kaylea to Meijer so she could spend her Valentine's Day money.

We never expected school to be called off all week, but more snow came in on Tuesday evening and it is going to be frigid cold tomorrow.

I'm thankful that Jordy has been home with Kaylea all week because she has needed extra loving. What we thought was a cold, flu, or strep turned out not to be.  She had her first sick visit to the doctor in more than two years.  I'm thankful for a healthy child, but having such a spiked temperature scared me!  She has some antibiotics and is on the mend and looking forward to her party on Friday.

Valentine's Day Weekend

Valentine's weekend didn't go nearly as planned.  Jordy and I were lucky enough to get a date night out on Friday.  We went to The Exchange and followed it up with a little shopping at Kohl's.  When we got home that night, Kaylea had a fever.  She had been a little sluggish and actually puked Thursday night, but she acted fine and said she felt fine.  She was supposed to have a slumber party on Saturday night.  However, she woke up with a fever and we just couldn't risk getting everyone sick.  She was very upset, but we promised she could have a party the following weekend and she tried to cheer up.  We decided to continue our past tradition and have heart shaped pizza.  Kaylea had been looking forward to what her Valentine's Day present would be so she was excited about it.  It wasn't what she was looking forward to, but she did have fun.

Friday morning I was able to help out as room mom.  Actually, the real room mom moved away and some help was needed with the Valentine's Day Party so I volunteered to help another mom.  I know Kaylea was excited that I was there and got to eat lunch with her.  When she woke up on Friday morning I didn't think she was going to make it to school, but by the time I got there she was good to go.  It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun.  We decorated cookies, passed out valentines, made bracelets, made valentines to take home, and played a balloon popping game.  I decided since there was less than an hour left of school, I would just sign her out and take her home with me.

Pottery at Northside

Friday night our church hosted a Mother-Daughter pottery painting event.  Kaylea and I signed up.  We started the evening with dinner of her choice (McDonald's).  We ran into friends when we arrived.  Kaylea decided to paint a coffee mug for Mimi.  She wanted to give it to her for Valentine's Day.  There were refreshments, music, dancing, and lots of fun.  We had a great Friday night.
