Deere Farm Field Trip

I had the privilege of taking a day off and going on a field trip with Kaylea's class.  One of my favorite parts of the day was getting to see her in her class, interacting with the other students.  It also made me smile that she was so happy to have me there.

The students loaded the bus and the parents followed behind.  She was excited for her first school bus ride.  When we arrived at the farm, we were given a brief information session before we loaded the tractor and went to see the animals.  After looking at the animals, we went to look for a pumpkin.

After selecting the perfect pumpkin, we were allowed to mingle on all of the activities.  There was a hay maze, tires filled with sand and rock, horses to pet, a tunnel slide, swings, and a bounce house.  Kaylea had fun with me, but I had fun watching her play.

We got to have lunch together on the picnic tables and I got to meet some of her friends.  When the day ended, Kaylea decided to ride home with me.  We enjoyed the rest of the day at home cooking.  She really enjoyed this because I let her crack the eggs (I only had to get out one shell).

Those who know me, know I'm pretty stingy with my leave.  I only like to take it off to do something and I am so glad I used a day for this.  I will go on as many field trips as they will allow me to!

Chasing Cheeky House Party

I have tried for a long time to win a house party and I finally did.  My friend, Kristi, has won several and she won the same one, so I suggested we host together.  We have a lot of mutual friends, so it made sense to me.

We were shipped 3 games for the kids to play -  Chasing Cheeky being the main one.  I wasn't sure how it would go over, but the kids seemed to like playing it.  We had some good food and great company. I hope we win some more parties.

Friday Funday

At the last minute we invited a few friends over Friday night.  Kaylea and I made cupcakes after work and Nana stopped by and played with Kaylea for a little while.  It is nice to now have a place to be able to invite them (although we still don't have enough room).  We picked up the Spaghetti Shop buckets and chowed down before the kids played outside and inside.  We ended up using the fire pit to roast marshmallows (and ate the entire bag).  As usual, Kaylea ended up on top of the table commanding attention.  She got a little help from her friend Lucas, tonight, too.

Road Trip

This Saturday we headed up to Lafayette to visit friends.  We got in pretty early Saturday and met at Happy Hallow park for the some play time.  Kaylea had a great time and the park was pretty awesome.  It was great because we got to see some friends we haven't seen in a long time.  We ended up spending over 3 hours playing at the park.

When we left the park, we decided to chase the Kona Ice truck (it's been way too long).  It just so happened to be at the Apple Popcorn Festival in Brookston.  It was about a 15-20 minute drive.  Since we were there, we decided to take a look around.  Kaylea rode a pony and we enjoyed a few yummy treats.

After the festival, we took Jen & Matt out for Matt's 40th birthday.  It was a little belated, but the first time we had seen them to take him out.  We actually did a mystery shop visit before heading to Echo karaoke.  Ashley & Joe joined us, too!  It was a great time.  I'm glad we don't have this place nearby (and that it took me so long to discover it in West Lafayette) because I might go bankrupt.

Kaylea and Owen played and were asleep before we returned.  We had a great trip and I can't wait to see them again!

Muffins with Mom

Last week Kaylea’s school had Muffins with Mom in the morning. It was moving day, but I had the morning off, so I headed to school to enjoy muffins with Kaylea. It was fun to see her interact with her classmates and meet some of the friends she talks about. It was also interesting to see how “wild” and free spirited my child is compared to the others. I know she enjoyed having me there and didn’t want me to leave.

random weekend fun

This first picture is just something I want to remember about how she eats at Tumbleweed.  She always wants to go there because we ask the server to bring her taco condiments on the side and she makes her own.  It really isn't too bad of a deal on kids eat free night or on nights we can use the 2 for $20.

Can you find Kaylea in the picture below?  Neither could I, which is how I ended up climbing up and taking it.  She is in there.  Her head is under the Minnie Mouse blanket.

Friday night we went to Outback with the Hamm family.  I don't know about everyone else, but Kaylea had a blast.  We had coupons for kids eat free and it is one of my favorite places to eat.  We enjoyed dinner, did a little shopping, and came back to our house for a little play time.

Moving Day

Moving day has come and gone, which means we are living out of boxes. As life loves to throw curve balls, the house isn't completely finished, so we have been without a kitchen sink for the weekend. The dishwasher was installed today, but the oven could not be installed because the countertops were cut too long and the mircrowave will not fit because of a covering. All in all, we are happy with the process and are enjoying the new place. I will post before and after pictures after we get unpacked and things are in place (haha!)

Acey

I couldn't resist posting a few more of my favorite pictures of our kitty cat. We had a scare while moving this weekend and thought she was lost in the big world. While moving this weekend, she was missing for over 4 hours. We ended up finding her in a box, but I was certain she had gotten out or gotten in the plumber's bag.

Happy 4th Birthday Sam

It seems we are always celebrating a birthday around here and I have to say, it is one of my favorite things to do. On Sunday we celebrated Sam Norwood's birthday with bounce time at SIGS. There was a huge turn out. I thought it was funny because Kaylea always wants to bounce when we go to gymnastics. When we were out bounce time, she was upset that we couldn't get on the balance beam. Gotta love it. Sam seemed to have a great time and so did we.
