GLAMS Halloween Party & Zombaid

We had a busy Thursday & Friday this past week.  Thursday was the GLAM Halloween party at Columbian Park.  We had a great time.  We were planning to go to Boo at the Zoo, but after hearing some reviews, we decided not to go.  We just hung out at the park.  After the party, we chased down the Kona Ice truck for the final time of the season!

Friday we went to the Zombaid benefit with the Zuercher family and Mimi.  It was cold, but Kaylea & Owen didn't care.  They had a great time trick or treating and collected a ton of candy!  We ended the night with a cup of hot chocolate and a steak dinner courtesy of Mimi!  Mimi spent the night with us so we wouldn't have to wake Kaylea up too early on Saturday morning.

weekend get-away - denver, co

Jordy and I headed to Denver, Colorado on Saturday morning.  We had free flights on Southwest, got a great hotel deal and rental car deal on priceline, so the only thing we had pay for was the Broncos tickets and food.  After booking the trip, Jordy realized that one of his old Navy buddies lived in the area, so we made plans to meet up with him and his wife for dinner.

Our flight arrived on time and we were able to check into our room early.  We slept very little Friday night, so we enjoyed a nap.  I took a recommendation from a co-worker on a Mexican restaurant for lunch - the Riveria.  It was ok.  The service wasn't great, but the drinks were ;)

We were pretty lazy the first day, but decided to walk to meet the Maynard's for dinner.  We went to Ship's Tavern.  The food was good and we had a good time catching up with old friends.

We slept in Saturday and then searched for a place to eat breakfast.  We decided on Stueben's.  We got there and realized they didn't open until 10:00.  It was 9:30.  We were trying to decide what to do when we started seeing a line form outside of the place.  We decided it must be good and got in line.  The food was very good!

We decided to check out the Botanic Gardens.  I hated paying to get in, but I insisted we do something in town.  It was nice to see something different and we took more pictures there than anywhere.

We headed to the Broncos game around 4:15.  The hotel had a shuttle, which was nice because the stadiums was about 3 miles away.  We arrived and there was a ton of energy in the air.  This was my first NFL game and it did not disappoint.  We ate dinner at the game had a great time watching.  We stayed until the clock hit 0:00!  I couldn't see leaving early considering the money we spent on the trip and tickets.

We headed back to where the shuttle would pick us up and when I called they said it was going to be an hour (which was also after the shuttle quit).  We decided to start walking and thought we might just catch a cab when we saw one.  We never saw a cab that was free until we were less than 1/2 mile from home.  We ended up walking the entire way!  We were ready to crash when we made it back to the hotel.

And of course, we were ready to get home to see this sweet face...

the perfect pumpkin @ exploration acres

I found this in my blog history that I forgot to post.  On Jordy's birthday we headed to Exploration Acres to search for a pumpkin.  It made me miss Huber's.  There were lots of things to do and the pumpkins were super cheap, but I was disappointed with the cost of admission.  It rained a lot the few days before, so the hayride wasn't up and running.  Kaylea made friends with another girl and they played together.  It was chilly when we got there, but warmed up a little.

Kaylea looked for a pumkin for about 2 minutes before she decided she wasn't all that interested and wanted to get back in the wagon.  We only ended up buying one pumpkin.  We took it home and painted it a few days later.

jordy's birthday week

We've been celebrating Jordy's birthday week around here.  I don't usually get a ton of presents, but Pinterest has given me lots of great ideas this year, so we made daddy's birthday week extra special. One of my favorite presents, I bought on Etsy and haven't taken a picture of yet.  It's a key chain that says, "Lucky Us" and has pennys from special years in our lives.  It was inexpensive and sentimental.

Jordy and I had some time together on Friday.  We had lunch at Applebees and walked around the mall and Best Buy for a little bit.  Jordy bought a mount to put finally hang our tv on the wall.  He has been wanting to do this since our last house.  It looks really good.

Friday night we decided to celebrate with Kaylea since we had dinner club planned for Saturday.  We went to a Mexican restaurant and the service was outstanding.  The food came quickly and it was actually prettty good.  Jordy has taken to calling it "El Nopal North."  We came back to the house and had cake and ice cream.  Kaylea and I spent Thursday making the mini cake.

Saturday, Kaylea and I let daddy sleep in and we played downstairs.  After eating a yummy and healthy breakfast of Cinnabons, we got ready to go to the pumpkin patch (see separate post).  I think Jordy had a pretty good birthday week!

annivesary sitter

I should be called the annivesary baby sitter :)  Kaylea and I went to hang out with Rose & Leland so mommy and daddy could go out for dinner alone.  They ate pizza and played hard.  We had a great time.

what we've been doing this weekend

We had a very busy weekend.  Friday night, we got a sitter and my mom took us out to dinner.  We went to Mountain Jack's for a fabulous steak dinner.  We went early and it went pretty quickly, so we hit up Target after dinner to pick up a Christmas present for Kaylea (Mimi needed help finding it).

I worked Saturday morning so that one of the supervisors could have the day off.  It is a pretty good deal for me and I don't miss out on too much time with Kaylea.  I came home and Kaylea helped me bake a cake for a baby shower on Saturday.

We didn't have too much time before we had to leave for a birthday party.  One of the kiddo's in her class invited her to Malone's Gym for playtime and a party.  We knew we couldn't stay too long because we had promised Jen & Matt we would watch Owen & Elliott so they could go out and celebrate their anniversary.

I went out for pizza, while Jordy played with the kids ;)  He truly is amazing with kids.

Sunday, I went to a baby shower for the GLAMS group I am a part of.  I made the cake and prepared a shower game.  I wanted to give back because if it weren't for GLAMs, I wouldn't have made so many friends so fast in Lafayette!

And now it's time to start Jordy's birthday week!

columbus day 2012

We've been in Lafayette for just over a year now and it finally feels like home. We know how to get around, we have friends, Kaylea has friends, and my mom is here. After a weekend visiting our old home, I actually look forward to getting back. On Sunday night, I went for a crafting night with some ladies I know. I finished a busy bag project (separate post later) and worked on a fall wreath. I was trying to decide what to do with Kaylea on Columbus Day since Jordy had to work and we couldn't be home all day.
I ended up taking her to school in the morning for a few hours. It was letter "e" day, so I wanted her to get the preschool part of the day. I picked her up after lunch and we stopped by the Post Office. We worked some carriers and clerks and I wanted to see what was going on. Kaylea likes going to work. She says that everyone talks to her. She had to sit at my desk and work (I forgot to bring in my camera).
Next, we headed to Owen's house to play. Jen had the ingredients for making cupcakes, so that's what they did. All in all, they did a decent job sharing the tasks and they both enjoyed eating the cupcakes. They played and we talked.
Finally, we enjoyed Moe's Monday and a trip to the mall!

birthday month?

We went for a visit to Southern Indiana this weekend.  When we go home, we hardly ever just relax, but we celebrated Jordy's birthday with his family on Friday night.  Kaylea seemed to have a good time.  She got to play with Shannan & Brenden and Nana & Pop.

Saturday morning, Jordy and I got some quality time together shopping and going out to lunch, while Kaylea go to play with Trina.  She had a blast.  We had dinner club at the Hamm's on Saturday and afterward we went on the Danger Run.  It got late fast, so we only made it through one haunted house, but we had a wonderful time.  It was nice to visit.  We aren't sure how long until our next visit, but it's going to be awhile, so we tried to soak up the time with family & friends.

flip flop pajama party

Bad news!  Daddy caught the bug Kaylea had this weekend, so he has been down for the count.  My mom picked up Kaylea from daycare and after dinner, she insisted we have a flip flop pajama party.  We had to dress her animals in pajamas (her t-shirts) and give them butter bread.  We then made them alphabet soup and celebrated Minnie's birthday.  I love her little imagination.
