Happy 5th Birthday Owen

This past weekend we drove to Lafayette to celebrate Owen turning 5!  He had his party at the bowling alley.  I thought Kaylea was going to cry when she saw the bowling shoes she would have to wear.  We persuaded her to put them on.

After the party we hung out with Jen & Matt while the kids played together with the sitter.  Kaylea had a blast.  She was so tired she fell asleep quickly when we returned to the hotel.

On Sunday morning we had breakfast at the Jesiek house.  It was nice catching up with Julie & Brent while the kids had some more playtime.  Breakfast was great and the company was even better.

Coloring Easter Eggs

It isn't Easter without coloring eggs! Despite our extremely busy Saturday, we managed to get eggs colored that evening. Guess who made a big mess? ME!!!

Easter Sunday

We typically go to church on Saturday and Easter week was no exception. Kaylea has been asking to go to church a lot lately and the child workers know her well. We woke up on Sunday morning to the Easter bunny presents. I think she forgot when she first woke up, but she was very excited when she realized he had come and brought some of her favorite things. We celebrated with lunch at Nana & Pop's. Brenden hid eggs for Kaylea to hunt and she was spoiled more by the Nana and Pop and Mimi and Shannan. Kaylea has a much deeper understanding of Easter this year and is always telling me what the real meaning of Easter is. I love this Christian education she has been getting. Happy Easter!

Egg Hunt Party

On Friday we hosted a parent/child playdate. We had an Easter Egg Hunt. We started with a pitch in dinner and then hid eggs for the kids. Kaylea had been looking forward to this and had a great time.

Happy Birthday Mimi

We celebrated my mom's 64th birthday on Wednesday. Kaylea and I made her a lemon cake from scratch. Trina and Mikey came over and we ordered pizza. Kaylea was very excited that it was Mimi's birthday (even though she wanted it to be her own). She put on a show for us. Each year my mom celebrates her birthday is special to me. Growing up she never liked a big fuss about her day and we never made a huge deal of it. However, since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 I have made it a point to make every birthday a fuss. I am so happy that it is in God's plan for her to continue to be here with us. After the party my mom and I went to play Bingo (probably the first time since her last birthday). We both got Bingos! That made for a great night. My mom is one of my best friends. She is one of the first people I want to call with good news or with bad news. I love spending time with her and I hope for the same relationship with my own daughter.

Easter Egg Hunt

Last week Kaylea got sick on Thursday. My mom had to pick her up from schools since I was out of town and Jordy was at work. This meant our weekend plans all changed. We had to cancel an Easter party at our house and miss an egg hunt Saturday morning. I ended up getting sick on Saturday night and into Sunday. However, I really wanted to get Kaylea to an egg hunt and I saw one posted on Facebook so we headed to Central Christian Church. Before the egg hunt we watched a puppet show about Jesus. Kaylea had a lot of fun at the egg hunt. We did have a slight melt down over the color balloon she was given, but we survived and she collected a ton of eggs.

Pictures

I haven't taken many pictures of Kaylea's work lately.  The top picture is a letter she wrote to me the other day.  She picked some flowers for me from the front yard.

The bottom picture is some things she made in preschool.  Since I can't keep everything, I like to take pictures of a some of the stuff.

Swim Lessons

Kaylea started swim lessons again this season.  We have taken them in the past, but I think she will learn to swim this summer and I wanted to give her a jump start for our vacations.  I decided to go with a private lesson at the YMCA.  Our instructor is Beth and she seems to be very good with Kaylea.  Kaylea did a good job listening and seemed to be getting the hang of things.

Singing In the Rain

I got this photos right before Kaylea face planted into the water and started screaming because she scraped her hands.  We had a big down pour and I let her play in the rain.  I decided to get a few pictures.  She loves playing in the rain.  It was great while it lasted.

Happy 5th Birthday Teagan

Teagan celebrated her 5th birthday at Chuck E Cheese and we were there to help.  There is plenty to do with all of those kids.  Kaylea had a great time and Teagan seemed to enjoy her big day!

Veggie Tales Party

I won a house party once again!  We hosted a Veggie Tales in Space party.  We didn't really get too much movie watching in, but there was a lot of playtime!  Kaylea did watch the movie this afternoon and gave it two thumbs up.

15 Years - Vegas Style

Jordy and I decided we had much to celebrate for surviving making it 15 years of marriage.  We thought a trip to Vegas, where we celebrated our honeymoon was appropriate.  We spent three nights in Paris-Las Vegas.  We were hoping to watch the Cardinals play some basketball, but they lost on Friday night.

It was really nice to get some quality time together.  We didn't do anything too extravagant.  Jordy jumped off the top of the stratosphere.  I got some hair extensions.

We had our anniversary pictures taken.  I think they turned out fantastic!  Marriage isn't easy and we've certainly had our share of ups and downs, but I think we are in a great place right now, continuing to love each other more and more.
