Fall Break - Gatlinburg

I love my family and the spontaneity that we sometimes possess.  We were scheduled to head to Chicago over Fall Break, but the weather didn't look so hot.  It was supposed to be cold and rainy.  We decided to change plans at the last minute and drove to Gatlinburg instead.

We left Saturday after church and stayed in Strawberry Plains, TN.  Just our luck, there was a big football game so the rooms were nearly sold out and super expensive.  We woke up in the morning and drove to Gatlinburg.  We went to Indoor Skydiving.  I thought Kaylea would love it.  She certainly loved the idea of it and was pumped to do it until we got inside.  She did not want to lay on the wires with the fans blowing.  It ended up just being me and Jordy on the video.  We headed to our hotel.  It was an awesome view, but off of the main strip.  I picked it because of the pool.  We hung around the hotel a little and decided to venture out to ride the Mountain Coaster.  We took the trolley.  It started to rain.  The trolley drove past our stop so we walked in the rain.  Jordy wasn't very happy with me.  However, the coaster was a blast and Kaylea loved it!  We rode it twice.  We were soaked so we headed back to the hotel.  Kaylea loves to swim so we spent several hours at the pool.  After a lot of convincing I convinced her to head to the strip.  We had an awesome night riding rides, playing games, and eating sweet treats.  She was so tired when we made it back, she passed out pretty quickly.

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast at Denny's.  We were looking forward to moving to Pigeon Forge and staying at a brand new hotel, Margaritaville.  We were able to check in early and were thrilled with the accommodations.  After checking out where we would be staying we started looking around The Island - there were tons of shops, rides & games for kids, and places to eat.  We spent the afternoon and evening doing it all - checking out the shops, building a bear, letting Kaylea ride the rides, eating cinnamon rolls as a midnight snack.  Making memories at its best.

We had a fantastic fall break mini-vacation!  I love spending time with my family!

After the parade we headed to the Indy area to visit The Zuercher family. We arrived around 4pm. Jen and I went out for a little girl's time while Jordy and Matt took the kids swimming at the hotel pool. Jen and I had massages and a drink near their house. They had a great time. We hung out all together for a little while and Owen came back to the hotel to spend the night with us. The next day, the guys went to a movie and lunch and we headed to a pumpkin patch with the kids. There were a lot of activities. We took a hay ride, made sand art, bought a pumpkin, rode the inflatable slide, walked through the corn maze, and played on the playground. We had a lot of fun. We finished it up with lunch at Culver's and a little more playtime before we had to head home. It was nice to catch up and finally see their new place.

Harvest Homecoming Parade

As a part of the HHC princess for a day, Kaylea got to participate in the parade. We skipped soccer Saturday morning and went to the parade instead. Kaylea insisted that I walk along side. It was cold this year, but we both agreed the cold was better than the rain!

Spirit Week

I didn't get a picture everyday of the week, but last week was Spirit Week at Grant Line. Monday was dress like a Minion (Kaylea didn't want to do this and I didn't know how to make it work anyway), Tuesday was what you want to be when you grow up, Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday, Thursday was pajama day, and Friday was Flip Flop Day. Kaylea had fun participating and it sure made the last week before fall break pass quickly!
