OOPS!

OOPS! I tried to take some pictures this weekend, but the camera we keep in the diaper bag had a dead battery. Therefore, I will have to give you a written update on our little monster. Kaylea is completely fascinated with standing up. Every time she gets in the upright position, she smiles, laughs, and if I am near, she gives me a hug. She thinks she is hot stuff (and so do we). Sometimes she gets mad if you sit her back down. She loves the view of the world from a standing position.

Kaylea's New Ball

We bought Kaylea a cheap plastic ball this past weekend and she is having so much fun with it. You roll it to her and if she can get it in her lap, she will attempt to bite it, and then roll is back. She thinks this game is hilarious and can often be heard laughing down the hall when we play. These are the moments I want to remember forever!

Super Star

Kaylea loves to pound on the piano keys. I plan on having her in piano lessons as soon as she is old enough to understand the concept. I never loved taking lessons, but I am so glad that I did. I am not an excellent pianist, but I can read music and put a few notes together.

Six Month Update

Kaylea had her 6 month check-up today. She is doing great. She weighed in at 16 pounds, 5 ounces (50th percentile) and was 26.25 inches long (75th percentile). She must have gotten the height from the Struck side of the family. She had 3 shots (we opted not to give her the H1N1 shot) and she was not pleased with any of them. She was tired and that only made it worse. It took longer than normal to calm her down (about 90 seconds, which seemed like an eternity), but she fell asleep on the way home and was fine the rest of the day. It's hard to believe that she has been a part of our lives for 6 months. Her first birthday will be here before we know it. We love you K Monster.

First Nights Apart

I spent my first nights away from Kaylea this weekend. I never intended to do it this early, but the timing was right to head to the Vegas with my mama. She is less than a week away from her last treatment and less than a month away from her surgery. Plus, she had to use this trip by March.

The trip started off perfect. Southwest Airlines was asking for volunteers to give up their seats and leave 2 hours later. We volunteered and were selected. Because Harrah's had purchased our tickets at a full fair, we received $658 each in future air travel. It was worth the 2 hour delay and it was the only "jackpot" we hit.

It was daddy and Kaylea most of while we were gone. However, on Saturday, Jordy was able to go to the Colts playoff game, so Kaylea got to hang out with Nana & Pop.

Needless to say, I missed Kaylea so much. I was doing great until I called home to talk to her daddy and heard her singing in the background. I have never been so excited to come back from a vacation. When I got home, she was sleeping, but when I got up with her in the morning, she let out a laugh that could be heard down the hallway. I'm thinking she missed me as much as I missed her.

Don't Forget My Water, Daddy!

Kaylea loves her water, and you better not forget to give her water after her dinner! She loves it!

Happy Half Birthday Kaylea

Today is Kaylea's 6 Month Birthday! Below are things we love about our sweet baby girl.

1. You loves hearing Old MacDonald - it is her favorite song!
2. Your favorite foods are carrots, sweet potatoes, and just about any fruit.
3. You love smiling at yourself in the mirror.
4. You will give us 5 (most of the time when we ask).
5. You like to roll over - front to back/back to front.
6. You love the doodle - you try to grab her ears & laugh a lot when she is in front of you.
7. You eat baby food twice a day.
8. You go to bed around 8:30 and sleep until about 7:00 or so. Sometimes you wake up to eat at 6:30, but you usually go back to sleep until 9:00.
9. You are taking 2-3 naps a day. Some are short, some are long.
10. You don't have any teeth.
11. You like to be bounced up and down on my knee.
12. You enjoy our nightly routine and most of the time don't care who gives you a bath or puts you to bed.
13. You are standing up, but not on your own!
14. You love the exersaucer, but get mad if you can't get the star in your mouth.
15. You like playing with your toys - mostly you like putting them in your mouth.
16. You like Mum Mums

Ok - I didn't really give her the cupcake!

Happy Half Birthday

We are going to take Kaylea's picture by the piano every year for her 1/2 birthday. I was going to buy a stuffed animal or something, but we figured we would have the piano for a long time, so we decided it was perfect. Look how little our munchkin is on her first 1/2 birthday!

Happy Birthday Nana

Today was Nana's birthday. Kaylea got to spend a lot of time with Nana. First, we took Nana to breakfast. Next, Nana watched Kaylea while we went to the U of L basketball game. Finally, we had the family over to celebrate Nana's birthday. All of that time with Nana, and somehow, we did not get a good picture of Kaylea & Nana. Oops!

6 Month Pictures

Courtney came to our house this past Monday to take Kaylea's 6 month pictures (yes, she was really only 5 1/2 months old, but it worked for our schedule). Seriously, my child will not be a star - she would not like the paparazzi. When the camera came out, Kaylea was not happy. However, I was quite surprised at how great the pictures turned out. My mom was in several of these pictures. We are going to invite Jordy's parents to be in Kaylea's 9 month pictures. We don't have too many pictures with Nana & Pop. We need more. You can view her 6 month pictures at http://www.courtneyparisphotography.com/. The password is AMeyer. Kaylea goes for her 6 month update in mid-January - I'll post her stats then.

I Love My $20 Swing & Blanket

Kaylea loves her swing. Jordy calls it her "reset button." Whenever she is cranky or tired of being held, you just put her in the swing for about 15 minutes and she is happy as can be. Brittney found the swing (which was practically new) at a yard sale over the summer. She made the family an offer they couldn't resist! Kaylea loves it. She also loves her blanket. There are some pictures of her pulling it up to her eyes. She likes to hide!

Out to Dinner

We went to Logan's for lunch on Friday - Kaylea had a great time playing with a packet of sugar!
