friday morning

This morning, Kaylea and I headed to McDonald's for some alone time.  I must say she looked adorable.  I asked her if I could take a picture, but she didn't want me to.  She picked out some leggings, her pink tutu, a lime green kitty cat shirt, and her hot pink cowgirl boots.  She wanted cinnamon melts for breakfast.  I dropped her off at daycare and she wasn't the least bit sad about me leaving.  I managed to snap the picture below.

plan b

We decided to go home this past weekend for a couple of reasons.  First, my mom had a baby shower that she wanted to attend and I felt like I should ride home with her since she always rides home with me.  Second, I had Friday off, so we were able to leave early to get home.

I had a few errands to run Friday morning and Kaylea had a birthday celebration at school, so I took her in for a couple of hours in the morning.  We picked her up at lunch and hit the road.  We dropped Doodle off to stay with Trina and then headed to the Struck's.  Even though my mom is next door, I don't get as much quality time with her as I would like.  Kaylea always wants to go over there with me and wants to be the one to talk to Mimi.  My mom and I decided we would go to Bingo on Friday night and were excited that my cousin Trina joined us.  We actually won a few dollars (and I got a BINGO).  Kaylea and Jordy stayed back to hang out with his parents.  According to him, they played hard and followed it up with a vanilla malt from Zesto.

When I got back to the Struck's, Kaylea was laying down - I was shocked!  She said she was tired and didn't feel good.  We didn't think anything of it because she says this from time to time just to say it.  However, when she woke up throwing up next to me at 2am, I started to believe her.  Poor thing :(  We made it through the night and were going to head to breakfast, when she puked again.  We decided to let her hang out at Nana & Pop's with daddy.

Later that day, I had a shower to attend and Kaylea was looking forward to hanging out at Aunt Shannan's so I took her over there.  Shanna reported that Kaylea was acting normal and even ate a few fries.  They had gone to the park and on the way back, Kaylea fell asleep in the car.

When we got her back to the Struck's we woke her up and she was a terror.  She was crying and didn't want anyone in the room except for mommy & daddy.  She was screaming and telling us she wanted to go home.  So, we cancelled our plans for the evening and headed back to Lafayette.  She had been so hysterical, I was worried about how she would do on the drive, but she was fine.

Daddy and Kaylea spent most of today being lazy and watching movies, letting mommy run a few errands.  Kaylea did come to the grocery store with us because she talked daddy into letting her pick out a couple of movies.  She took a nap this afternoon and seems to be feeling much better.

hiding in a box

I used my Kohl's Cash and ordered a pillow online.  It came last night, so I let Kaylea have fun playing in the box.  She loaded up her stuffed animals and blankets inside and then asked if I would put her in, too.

fixer upper

Kaylea loves playing with her tools.  That's what we did this past Friday night.  I had to work on Saturday, so we hung out at the house, ate McDonald's (her choice), and played.

ghost feet

We attempted a Halloween project this weekend.  Basically, you paint your feet or get paint all over the bottom and then press it down onto a canvas that has been spray painted black.  You add eyes and then they look like ghosts.  After finally talking Jordy into joining in for the fun, we went outside to try.  Kaylea had a melt down because I was helping her, which lead to her putting white paint all over the concrete.  Finally, we got her print...they didn't turn out nearly as cool as I thought they would and in the process of doing this, we somehow missed the Kona Ice truck!  I'm going to try to salvage this project and post a picture when I get it finished.

kona ice

One thing is for sure - we have a sweet tooth for Kona Ice in this house.   The Kona Ice truck is like an ice cream truck, but it sells shave ice.  It turns up the music and drives through the neighborhood playing, "Don't Worry, Be Happy."  We heard the truck tonight and I yelled, "Kona Ice."  Kaylea follows it up with, "the Kona Ice truck, let's go."  She was so excited.  She is definitely my child.  The great thing about our house is that if you miss it going past the first time, it has to come back through to get out ;)  We even got Mimi in on the action.  She met us in the driveway so we could get our ice.  Kaylea especially loves it because they have the flavors on the side of the truck and she can do her own.  She calls it the "kiddie flavor" because she hears me order the "kiddie" size!

happy 3rd birthday paige

Despite not feeling much better when we got home on Sunday, I decided to try to take Kaylea to Paige's birthday party so Jordy could have some alone time.  He had spent the last several days taking care of me and I thought he could enjoy some football.  Thankfully, when we got to the party, my headache started to go away.  This was a really fun party.  Kaylea loved playing with the gymnastics stuff and they had supervision, which was nice.  My camera died, so I didn't get a picture of the birthday girl, but she looked super cute!

Kaylea did the rope swing across the foam pit.  I'm not sure I saw any of the other young kids do it, but she was all about it.  At first she wouldn't drop off into the foam, but by the end she did.  She also got a boo boo when she waited to jump until she was too close to the edge!  She was a tough cookie and wanted an ice pack, but then she shook it off and she was ready to go.

home sweet home

I was so sick this past week, but dying to make a visit to Southern Indiana.  After getting there, I realized we probably should have stayed home, but oh well, it was too late.  Friday night, Kaylea got to play with Trina & Meagan while I went out for dinner with some girlfriends.  We spent the night with Nana & Pop and Kaylea ended up falling asleep on daddy in a rocking chair.

Saturday, we decided to cancel a few plans so I could rest.  My mom took Kaylea to meet up with my dad in Palmyra.  He lives out by Buffalo Trace Park with his dad, so they met there.  Apparently the prisioners of war were having some kind of celebration in the park and Kaylea was in heaven. They had activities for the kids and she came home with a new stuffed animal.  Kaylea let "Bud" carry her around the park.  They also went to see her Great Aunt Barbara, who gave her a cat bracelet and cooked her a cheeseburger.

We had dinner club that evening, so Kaylea got to spend some time with Nana & Brenden.  Brenden was recovering from a small surgery on Friday.  We picked Kaylea up after dinner club, and once again, she fell asleep on daddy before he put her in the bed with me.

We had a great weekend visiting with everyone, but I forgot to take any pictures :(

it's almost someone's birthday

Quite possibly one of my favorite weeks of the year - definitely up there with Christmas and March Madness - my birthday week.  Kaylea jumped right in on the celebrations.  We started last weekend by going to Chuck E Cheese (LOL).  We celebrated with Nana & Pop & Shannan & Brenden last weekend.  Kaylea wanted to help my mom make me a cake.  She told my mom that I let her crack the eggs when we make cake togehter.  When my mom went out to the car to look for an ingredient, Kaylea decided to crack an egg into a skillet.  My mom let her crack the other 2 eggs, too.

My birthday was Friday and I took the day off for myself.  It seems like it has been forever.  I spent time by myself at the spa and went shopping with my mom.  That evening, we all went out for dinner and celebrated with the cake Kaylea helped make and decorate.  I guess turning 32 isn't so bad after all!

art play group

Kaylea and I hosted an evening art group at our house on Wednesday.  She was so excited to have a "party."  Every since we went to our "dinner party" she has been asking to have a party.  I had to remind her that there wouldn't be any gifts.

I needed ideas for art projects, so I called my friend, Mary Arnold, and she had plenty of suggestions.  I decided we would try painting with ice and painting with toys.  The kids seemed to enjoy both.  Next time I need to let the ice melt a little before using it.  As they painted more and more it became much easier.

The kids had snacks, and adults had some mommy time, and when they were done painted, they wanted to go outside and jump on the trampoline and run down the hill in our backyard.  We had a great time, but I was ready for bed when everyone left at 7:30!

"nastics"

I finally got some pictures of Kaylea at gymnastics last night.  We had a few minutes, so I let her play at the play ground before we went in.  She wanted to drive the fire truck.  We were pleasantly surprised to see her friend Emma had joined the class.  Kaylea was even more excited this week.

I love this class so much more than the one before.  They do different things each time.  Last week they did bar work.  This week they did some work on the mat.  They also don't spend as much time on each activity, so I think the kids don't lose focus as quickly.  The 30 minutes passes so quickly.  I guess since she actually seems to like it, I will break down and get the girl a leotard.

weekend recap

I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I should have this weekend, so I'm combining our weekend into one post.  On Friday night, Jordy and I each got a girls/guys night out, while Kaylea played with Mimi.  I actually came home pretty early because I planned to work on Saturday, but I still had fun.

Nana, Pop,Shanna, and Brenden were supposed to visit on Saturday night, but Pop had to work later than expected, so they weren't able to come until Sunday morning.  To make up for it, we went to Chuck E Cheese.  It was super crowded.  After a visit with the mouse, we did our grocery shopping for the week.  Kaylea talked her daddy into buying her a dreamlight.   How sweet!

The family arrived on Sunday and Kaylea asked if they wanted to go to the mall and jump.  Kaylea and Brenden jumped on the trampoline.

Saturday night, after we took Shannan out for her birthday (September 8th), we watched the Lorax, as the request of Kaylea.

We started celebrating my birthday week ;)
I got some nice presents and Kaylea sang Happy Birthday to me.
We went out for lunch at the Olive Garden this afternoon before the family headed home.
Kaylea didn't seem to be feeling great (she has since recovered)

While daddy got in some nap time, Kaylea painted the letters to her name for Pinterest project I am going to start working on soon.

We worked on another pinterest project.  Kaylea loves helping me in the kitchen.  We are having an art playgroup at our house on Wednesday and we needed to make some snacks.  They turned out really cute.  Jordy gave them a thumbs up, but Kaylea did not approve.

Kaylea decided she was hungry and wanted a jelly sandwich.  She did not take a bite.  She just wanted to spread the jelly.  It probably didn't help that we had just eaten at Moe's.

We had a laid back Labor Day weekend, just like it should be.  All in all, I started and/or finished 5 craft projects I have pinned.  Kaylea loves to craft with me - we were made for each other!

I almost forgot - Daddy and Kaylea built a tent in her room :)
