pointing to her body parts
Here is some more footage from bath time the other night - Kaylea loves taking a bath. She is usually a little camera shy, but last night, she loved doing anything I asked her to.
i love to play
I just love this picture of Kaylea. She is loving all of her toys from Christmas. Downstairs, as she calls it, is the place to be. It's even better than a COOKIE!
kaylea says hot mess
Kaylea has been performing for the camera lately - last night in the bath tub she was saying all kinds of things, and blowing bubbles in the water. I love this video. She has been saying "hot" and "mess" forever, but it took a week or so to get her to combine the two! It's pretty cute.

wow
WOW! I was just looking back at the blog from last year to see what Kaylea looked like and how we celebrated when I came across this picture of Kaylea & my mom. Last year at Christmas my mom was undergoing chemotherapy treatment and preparing to have her mastectomy. She didn't have any hair and neither did Kaylea. This year my mom is cancer-free (praise God!), 45 pounds lighter, and has a full head of curly hair. This year, Kaylea is a few pounds heavier :) and is finally getting some hair. I can remember my mom and I wondering if last year was going to be her last Christmas with us. Thankfully, we had another and are hoping for many more. I think Kaylea & Mimi are the best of friends.
Christmas 2010
christmas with nana & pop
After Kaylea woke up from her nap on Christmas Day we went to Nana & Pops to celebrate with Jordy's side of the family. Kaylea had two big gifts - the grand piano and her Mickey chair (she already has the matching couch). She had a blast opening presents. She ate a lot of monkey bread. She couldn't decide what she wanted to do - play her piano or eat more monkey bread. Mommy note - Mama scored a pair of UGGS while celebrating with Nana & Pop!
On Christmas morning, Trina, Meagan, Mikey, & Mimi came over to celebrate with us. We had breakfast and then exchanged gifts. Trina and her kids really showered Kaylea with some gifts! It was like Santa came all over again! Kaylea got Elmo Hands, an Elmo Camera, books, dolls, Sponge Bob Bowling, a Mickey guitar, and much more. I think she liked the Elmo Camera the best. Meagan & Mikey each gave us a very sweet card they made. It was one of my favorite gifts.
merry christmas
Kaylea got way too much stuff this year! We had a blast celebrating with her this year. She was very blessed. Kaylea slept in after a long night on Friday. When she woke up, I brought her her milk and then we took her out to see what was under the tree. The first thing she noticed was Minnie Mouse (who she called Mickey about 3 times before she realized it was Minnie), who was sitting on her teeter totter. She ran over and got on. I was lucky to capture some video of her reaction to things. I think we may have over done it this year, but it was so much fun, we'll probably continue to over do it year after year.
2010 Ornaments
The annual ornament exchange continues - this year wasn't really a surprise for me & Jordy. We decided we would get our ornaments in NYC. Jordy's is the one on the left. Mine is the hot dog stand on the right. I really loved it because it has glitter (you can't see it) and despite the fact that I haven't had a hot dog in about 18 years, it was by far my favorite. It was tough to decide which ornament to get for Kaylea. We debated a few different ones - a duck, a coke bottle, and a phone. The Blackberry won out because I was able to have it personalized. She thought it was a real phone.
how we spent christmas eve
After I came home from work, we went by my parents house to see my grandpa (K's great grandpa). Later that evening, we went to Nana & Pop's. Jordy's family comes over every Christmas Eve. Kaylea got to see some cousins she only sees once a year. Kaylea had a blast. She had way too many cookies...and some family members may have given her some Coke. She was wired. She usually goes to bed at 7:30, but she stayed up until we got home and went to sleep around 9:45.

christmas eve memories
I never want to forget what a ham Kaylea was over at Nana & Pop's last night. We gave her a little caffeine in hopes that she would be able to stay awake until all of the uncles and cousins arrived. It worked! She was talking to everyone. At one point in the evening, I was telling Jordy that Kaylea was being such a ham. She stood up in the chair and said, "ham," and started laughing. She would stand up in the chair and dance, even though there wasn't any music playing. I wish I would have had my video camera with me.

the christmas pajamas
I finally got a picture of Kaylea's Christmas pajamas. It was super cute. She was playing with my Blackberry and I asked her to say cheese. I think she thought I wanted her to take my picture. That's what she was doing in the second picture - saying, "cheese" and taking my picture. I love to see how tall she is compared to the Santa & Snowman.

the big apple
I know this blog is supposed to be about Kaylea, and it is, but I thought I should include this post about our weekend. Mommy & Daddy had a much needed weekend in NYC. Jordy has been two times before, but this was a first for me. We went all out and spent the extra cash to have a room in the middle of Times Square. We had an awesome view. We spent the weekend sightseeing and just enjoying some adult time.
The thing that sucked is that on Friday afternoon, Kaylea started throwing up. She was in a good mood and wanted to play, but she could not keep anything down. It was really hard to leave knowing that she was sick. Knowing that she would be in good hands with Nana & Mimi made it a little easier, but a sick baby needs here mommy & daddy.
Kaylea stayed sick most of the time when we were gone. She couldn't keep anything down. Nana actually took her to the doctor on Monday. The doctor said it was just a virus and it was going to have to run its course.
The best part of the trip was coming home and seeing Kaylea. She wasn't quite as excited as I expected her to be, but she didn't want to let me out of her sight and she just kept smiling while I was holding her. Even though she didn't want me to put her down at first, she kept yelling for "daddy" if he walked out of the room. Kaylea seemed to be feeling better tonite.
I broke down and went to see the Christmas Spectacular - I'm so glad I did.
I love Christmas music and the show was absolutely amazing.
I was originally sure that I wanted to ice skate and have a photo taken on the ice...
then we arrived....and 2 days later, I was freezing.
I knew I would spend $56 to go out on the ice,
go around once holding onto the sides,
and then leave...therefore, this is the picture we got.

horsing around with mimi
dancing with friends
Despite the ice storm today, Kaylea had her friends over for a cookie decorating party. We had pizza, iced cookies, and then let the kids run wild. We had a great time. Kaylea was exhausted by the time everyone left. I think the kids were more interested in eating the cookies and icing, but they will improve over time and they had a blast playing together. I love this time of year.
what's your name?
I will be the first to tell you - I am addicted to the flip camera. It's an easy way to take a quick video and capture a memory. The videos speak for themselves.

christmas with alton
We had dinner with Amy, Art, and Alton tonight at Cheddar's. Kaylea did better with Alton than the last time we were around him, but she still didn't want to hold him and did not want mommy holding him. She did, however, want to give him a kiss. And, when he arrived, she let everyone know that he was a baby!
