Jordy and I joined Northside Church September 2014. It wasn't too long after that when I told him I thought I wanted to be baptized. I had been baptized when I was younger, but I certainly didn't understand what I was agreeing to or how I was supposed to live my life.
Then my mom's cancer returned. I knew that it wasn't necessary for me to be baptized again, so I decided I would wait for a better time. A few months later my mom came to me and told me that she had been thinking about being baptized, but she really didn't want to do it alone.
And all in God's timing, Northside posted the latest baptism class. I signed us all up and we attended. I wasn't sure if my mom was just doing this because she had cancer, but as we sat through the class and I listened to the questions she asked, I knew she was making this decision on her own. We scheduled our baptism that night for March.
Fast forward to an amazing experience. Jordy was baptized first and then he assisted with me and my mom. My mom was overcome by emotion. The whole event was almost a blur to me, but I'm so glad we experienced it and that we experienced it together.
